Australian Racing: Kid looks good for four in a row

There are five meetings due to take place on Thursday with wet tracks expected at all bar Rockhampton.

Race 4 Rockhampton

Kasinova Kid @ 1.55

Race 5 Hawkesbury

Sunchaser @ 4.60

Race 7 Kilmore

Rylstone @ 12.00

Kid to complete four-timer

The fourth race on the Rockhampton card is a 1300m Class 6 handicap contest.

A good 4 track is forecast for the race with KASINOVA KID taken to deliver a fourth consecutive victory.

The pick has tasted defeat just once in four starts since finishing runner-up in a Class 3 event over 1200m here back in May last year.

Those wins, including two this time around, followed up a half-length success in a 1050m Benchmark 70 event at Mackay with a victory by the same margin upped to 1200m here when racing in this grade.

The four-year-old has been sent off at odds-on for each of his last three starts, including when racing from the front last time out.

A versatile type with regards to tactics, the son of Bel Esprit was ridden with slightly more restraint having tracked the speed in the previously mentioned Mackay race.

The selection shapes as if a step up to 1300m will prove no issue and trainer Nick Walsh has shown good form here of late, winning with three of seven runners at this track in the last two weeks.

Sunchaser to score at Hawkesbury

The fifth race at Hawkesbury takes the eye with the 2000m Class 1 contest set to take place on a soft 6 track.

Import Lyrical Lady has shown solid form at this level in two starts since shipping south and is expected to start favourite here.

Both of those efforts have come over shorter distances, including when narrowly beaten in a 1700m contest at Scone.

The daughter of Lethal Force raced from off the pace in that Scone event and looked as if the extra distance here would suit.

The four-year-old was a winner over this distance on a sound surface in the UK in June last year and, while she is rated a worthy favourite, there is preference for confirmed wet track performer SUNCHASER.

The Robert Quinn-trained filly broke her maiden on a soft 6 track when tackling a 1400m event at Grafton in September last year.

While she has failed to deliver a victory in five subsequent outings, it’s of note that she was outclassed when 13th in the Group 3 Epona Stakes over 1900m at Rosehill on her penultimate start.

The drop back to Benchmark 64 contest nearly brought about a second career win, with the filly being narrowly beaten into second in a ten runner event at Kembla Grange.

The heavy 8 track appeared to suit that day and, while the ground is likely to be quicker here, it’s notable that Sunchaser did best of those racing close to the pace that day.

The form of that Kembla Grange contest looks solid enough with the third home delivering a victory subsequently, and Rachel King’s mount looks up to delivering her second career win.

Unusual Pearl has shown good form in two starts to date and is expected to have her supporters ahead of the seventh at Kilmore.

The 2012m Benchmark 58 event has attracted a field of ten with a soft 7 track expected.

Unusual Pearl debuted with a promising third and took a step forward when winning by a narrow margin in a 1600m maiden on a soft 5 track here at the end of last month.

While open to improvement, the Unusual Suspect filly lacks the experience of some of her rivals and RYLSTONE is selected to score here.

Trained by Michael Trotter, the pick delivered an impressive seven length success when jumping at big odds in an 1850m Benchmark 58 event on a soft 5 track at Kyneton at the start of last month.

The selection was below that form over 1875m at the same venue two weeks later, but has been freshened since that effort.

The soft ground is in his favour and stepping up in trip he looks value to deliver a fourth career success.
