Latest odds

The Perth Scorchers have been the most dominant side in the history of the Big Bash League, winning the championship on five occasions.

The men in orange have won the last two editions and will target the three-peat in the 2023/24 season.

Perth Scorchers can be backed at 3.60 to do just that, and once again they could take some stopping.

Sydney Sixers, look the biggest danger to them and can be backed at 5.50, while both Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers are available at 7.50.

Elsewhere, Brisbane Heat can be backed at 8.00, Sydney Thunder 9.00, Melbourne Renegades 10.00 and Melbourne Stars 11.00.

Wood joins Heat for BBL13

Brisbane Heat have completed their squad for the Big Bash season with the capture of all-rounder Jack Wood.

The 27-year-old, who is known for his hard hitting with the bat, has signed his first full contract with the Heat.

Wood did figure as a Local Replacement Player in 2020 and 2022, but has now made the step up after continuing to shine for Ipswich in the T20 Max competition.

Heat coach Wade Seccombe is delighted with the addition of Wood, and says he can be a threat anywhere in the batting line-up.

Wood is also a handy spin bowler and looks set to be a valuable member of the Heat squad for 2023.

Heat can be backed at 8.00 to win the Big Bash in 2023/24.

Renegades snap up Dixon

Another player to land a full BBL contract is young starlet Harry Dixon, who has penned a two-year deal with Melbourne Renegades.

The 18-year-old opening batsman has been a revelation for Australia’s under-19s against England in the last few weeks.

Dixon has just smashed 167 and 83 runs against England in the first Youth Test and the Renegades have wasted no time in snapping him up.

The Renegades believe they have landed one of the ‘most promising batters’ in Australia and are delighted to sign him up.

Dixon’s idol is David Warner, and if he can get anywhere near what he has produced, then the Aussies have a star on their hands.

The Renegades are 10.00 to win the BBL.
