Luke Durbridge career so far

Durbridge’s career burst into life in 2012 after signing a deal with GreenEDGE, now known as Jayco-AlULa.

He has remained with the team right to this day and has earned a reputation as a versatile cyclist, who can shine in time-trials, road races and the grand tours.

Indeed he has made nine appearances at the Tour de France and proven to be a valuable domestique for his team.

His best finish at the Tour de France was 100th in 2021, but it is not about the general classification standings for ‘Turbo Durbo’, he is a team player.

Out of those nine appearances in the Tour de France, Durbridge has made it all the way to Paris on seven occasions, which is a huge achievement.

Durbridge was also part of the GreenEDGE team that won two Team Time Trial stages at the Giro d’Italia in 2014 and 2015.

As well as being a team player at the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, Durbridge has enjoyed great individual success.

He has been crowned national time trial champion on four occasions, and was also national road race champion in 2013.

The 32-year-old has also picked up numerous top-10 finishes throughout his career and another highlight has to be winning the prologue at the 2012 Criterium du Dauphine.

Durbridge has a total of 11 professional wins so far and there is a good chance more will follow before his career is done.

What does the future hold?

The future remains a bright one for Durbridge, who is under contract with Jayco-AlUla, who value him greatly.

The West Australian looks sure to return to the Tour de France in 2024 as Jayco-AlUla will target a top-10 finish in the general classification and stage wins.

Durbridge is also a great rider in the one-day ‘classics’ throughout the year, meaning races like Paris Roubaix and Tour of Flanders could be on his race schedule.

Durbridge did ride the road race in the last Olympics and the 2024 edition in Paris could also be on the cards for him.
