A-League: Macarthur look to return to the summit

Macarthur FC will look to return to the top of the A-League ladder when they entertain Wellington Phoenix on Monday night.

The Bulls take on the Phoenix in the final game of Matchday 8 and it is also a big game for the visitors, who sit just one point below them.

Macarthur are not really fancied to go on and win the minor premiership as they are priced at 11.00, while Wellington are 9.00.

However, if they keep on churning out the wins, opinions will soon change, and for now Macarthur are right in the mix.

A point on Monday could be enough to take them back to the top, but the Bulls will be out for all three, as will the Phoenix.

An intriguing game awaits.

Bulls still undefeated

Macarthur remain unbeaten from their opening seven games this season, winning four of them, including the last two.

They beat Adelaide United 4-3 on home soil before making the trip to Sydney FC to wrap up a 2-0 win.

The Bulls have also drawn with Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory and are showing they could be the real deal this season as they chase their first-ever championship.

There is usually no shortage of goals in games involving Macarthur as they have fired home 14 so far this season, averaging two a game, while they have also conceded nine.

The same can be said of the Phoenix, who have scored 10 and let in seven.

With that in mind, both teams to score is available at 1.53, while over 2.5 goals in the game can also be backed at 1.65.

Macarthur also share their goals around the team as Valere Germain, Jake Hollman and Matthew Millar all have three to their name this season.

Hollman scored in the 2-0 win over Sydney FC and is a good price at 4.33 to score at anytime on Monday.

Phoenix look to bounce back

Wellington Phoenix had been going well this season until they suffered a 3-0 home defeat against Newcastle Jets last week.

It was their first defeat of the season and would have been a shock to the system, so they need to bounce back against Macarthur.

Their form away from home has been solid with a win at Western United and draws with Melbourne City and Western Sydney Wanderers.

The trip to Macarthur will be another big test and they have shown they are up to it when winning 1-0 there last season.

Another 1-0 win on Monday can be backed at 13.00.

Oskar Zawada remains the main man with four goals this season and he is priced at 5.50 to score the first of the game.
