A-League: Mariners and City still to find their form

Melbourne City will be out to make it back-to-back wins when they take on a Macarthur FC side who are above them on the A-League ladder.

After beginning the campaign with two defeats, City picked up their first win under new coach Aurelio Vidmar last weekend and will be looking to kick on.

It will not be easy against a Macarthur side who are unbeaten with two wins and a draw and who will be out to cause an upset at AAMI Park.

In the only other game to be played on Sunday, Central Coast Mariners will be keen to stop the rot against Brisbane Roar.

The reigning champions have suffered three defeats on the spin and face a Roar side who have won one, lost one and drawn one so far.

It may only be Matchday 4, but there is a lot on the line for these four sides.

Melbourne City finally picked up their first points of the season with a 2-0 home win over Sydney FC last weekend.

It came after they brought in Vidmar as their new coach and it is important they back it up with another three points against the Bulls.

They can be backed at 4.00 to win the minor premiership and will be hoping to climb back to the top of the ladder as soon as possible.

City will also be delighted that Jamie Maclaren got his first goal of the season and he should now kick on from there.

The Socceroos ace can be backed at 1.44 to score at anytime on Sunday.

Macarthur will head into the game full of confidence after picking up back-to-back wins and they have conceded just two goals so far this season.

Surprisingly City have only scored three, so we could be in for a tight, low-scoring affair. Under 2.5 goals can be backed at 2.60.

Mariners aim to get off the mark

It has been a disastrous start to the season for the Mariners, who have lost all three games so far, including a 2-0 defeat at Perth Glory last weekend.

They have had issues all over the park, scoring just one goal and conceding seven, and that is a big concern for new coach Mark Jackson.

The strikers have yet to get a goal, but one of their main men, Dylan Wenzel-Halls, can be backed at 6.00 to get the first goal on Sunday.

Brisbane have had no issues scoring goals and are averaging two a game. They were also looking tight at the back until Wellington Phoenix beat them 5-2 last weekend.

They will be hoping that was a blip and will be keen to bounce back at Central Coast Stadium.

Roar have not won there in their last two visits however and were thumped 4-1 in the same fixture last season.

Despite the Mariners woes in front of goal, it could be open again, and over 2.5 goals in the game can be backed at 1.53.
