A-League: Mariners to pile on the pressure at the top

Central Coast Mariners need three points against Newcastle Jets on Saturday in order to keep the pressure on at the top of the A-League ladder.

The Mariners are just three points behind ladder-leaders Wellington Phoenix and are priced at 4.33 to go on and clinch the minor premiership.

Perth Glory are unbeaten in their last five games and will be out to keep their faint top six hopes alive when they travel to take on Western United.

Glory are seven points behind the top six and can be backed at 8.00 to make finals.

And last but not least, there is a big derby clash to look forward to when Western Sydney Wanderers entertain Sydney FC at CommBank.

Just one place and one point separate the two and we can expect fireworks.

Perth Glory remain a club on the up and will take plenty of heart from the goalless draw they picked up against Wellington Phoenix last weekend.

Their away form has also been good, drawing at Adelaide and Macarthur, while beating Western Sydney Wanderers.

Adam Taggart continues to shine and has 12 goals this season and the Glory ace can be backed at 2.75 to score at anytime.

Western are struggling with one win in the last five, but they do have a good record against Glory, winning five of the last six.

Noah Botic scored in the 2-2 draw at Brisbane last week and is 6.00 to score the first goal of the game.

The Mariners are back on track after suffering a rare defeat and have now won their last two games on the spin.

They have both been close encounters, however, as they beat both Western Sydney and Melbourne Victory 1-0 and the same scoreline on Saturday can be backed at 10.00.

There has been plenty of goals however in the last four meetings between these two sides. The Mariners winning the last two 3-1.

Over 2.5 goals in the game can be backed at 1.61 while both teams to score is 1.53.

The Jets have not won in the last five games, but Apostolos Stamatelopoulos cannot stop scoring and is 6.00 to grab the first of the game.

Both teams have a bit of work to do to seal their place in the top six, with Melbourne City in seventh breathing down their necks.

The Wanderers snapped a three-game winless streak when beating Adelaide last week, while Sydney FC are unbeaten in their last five, however three of those have been draws.

Wanderers edged the game 1-0 when the two sides met back in November and five of the last six games have all been tight, with just one goal in it.
