A-League: Melbourne City to continue upturn against Western United

Melbourne City can guarantee their place in the A-League top six with a home victory over Western United on Sunday evening.

If Western Sydney Wanderers, who are two points and one place below them on the ladder, slip up against Melbourne Victory on Saturday, they may already be there.

But City will want a victory nonetheless to keep their momentum going and they can be backed at 7.00 to go on and win the grand final.

Sydney FC are already assured of a place in the top six and they too will be keen to wrap up a big win when they face Perth Glory on home soil.

Ufuk Talay’s side can be backed at 6.50 to go on and win the grand final this season.

Sydney in need of a boost

. What: Sydney FC v Perth Glory
. Where: Allianz Stadium, Sydney
. When: 16:00, Sunday 28th April 2024
. How to watch: Paramount+, 10Bold
. Odds: Sydney FC 1.36, Draw 5.25, Perth Glory 7.50

Sydney suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Macarthur last week and will be keen to bounce back with a win to take them into the finals campaign.

Their form has been a little patchy over the last few weeks, losing two of their last three games, and they need a lift.

They should get it against a Perth Glory side who have not won in the last nine games and have picked up the wooden spoon this season.

Glory have also had a rough few weeks, losing 8-0 against Melbourne City, while they also conceded four goals against both Western United and Adelaide United.

Saying that, they did manage to hold Sydney to a 1-1 draw when they met in the west on 3rd April.

Even so, Sydney will be looking to boost the ‘goals for’ column and over 2.5 in the game can be backed at 1.28.

If Glory are to grab a goal, then Adam Taggart is the man after scoring 19 this season, which could land him the golden boot.

The strike ace can be backed at 3.10 to score at anytime, while Sydney star Fabio Gomes is 5.00 to score the first of the game.

City finding form at the right time

. What: Melbourne City v Western United
. Where: AAMI Park, Melbourne
. When: 19:00, Sunday 28th April 2024
. How to watch: Paramount+
. Odds: Melbourne City 1.44, Draw 5.25, Western United 6.00

It has been a tough season for Melbourne City by their incredibly high standards, but they appear to be hitting some form at just the right time.

They have won the last two games, scoring 10 goals, and will look to keep the good run going against Western United at AAMI Park.

City won 2-1 away at Western when the two sides met back in January, and they have a good record against them when winning four from the last five meetings.

However, Western did beat them 2-1 at AAMI Park in the very first game of the season, so that shows what the visitors are capable of.

Over 2.5 goals in the game can be backed at 1.36, while both teams to score is available at 1.53.

Western are unbeaten in the last two games, despite conceding six goals - they won 4-3 at Glory in the last game and drew 3-3 with Adelaide in the game before.

Tolgay Arslan is City’s top goalscorer with 13 to his name this season and is priced at 7.00 to score the first goal on Sunday.
