NRL: Mitchell to be key for Souths at Suncorp

Brisbane Broncos and South Sydney Rabbitohs are back in action for the first time since suffering defeats in Las Vegas.

The Broncos were beaten by the Sydney Roosters in Vegas, while Souths were on the wrong end of the result against Manly Sea Eagles.

Both sides should be refreshed and ready to go again after being handed a rest last weekend, and the game is set up to be a cracker.

The Broncos can be backed at 4.75 to win the premiership in 2024, while the Rabbitohs are also in the mix at 13.00.

The Rabbitohs have a good record at Suncorp Stadium in recent games and will be out to extend it on Thursday night.

What: Brisbane Broncos v South Sydney Rabbitohs
Where: Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
When: 20:00, Thursday 14th March 2024
How to watch: Channel 9, Kayo, Foxtel
Odds: Brisbane Broncos 1.42, South Sydney Rabbitohs 2.90

Broncos must cut out the errors

The Broncos will have been disappointed with the defeat they suffered against the Roosters in Vegas and will be keen to bounce back.

They were the hot fancies heading into the game, but a sloppy performance that was littered with errors, cost them badly.

There were 15 errors in total, and the Broncos will need to cut them out if they are to bounce back against Souths.

Brisbane do have a good record against Souths, winning three of the past four meetings between the two sides.

Kotoni Staggs also likes playing against Souths and has scored six tries in the last seven games against them.

Selwyn Cobbo will be happy to get back to Suncorp Stadium, where he has scored 20 tries in his last 18 games, and will be a big threat once again.

The Broncos did have a concern over star playmaker Adam Reynolds after he picked up a knee knock in Vegas, but he has been given the all-clear to play.

Brendan Piakura has also been given nod to play after recovering from a concussion.

It looks like being a close encounter and the Broncos can be backed at 6.00 to win by 6-10 points.

Souths seem to love Suncorp

South Sydney have a good record at Suncorp Stadium and won 32-6 on their last trip to take on the Broncos in April last year.

Such a heavy win this time around would be a surprise and they can be backed at 7.50 to win by 13+ points.

The Rabbitohs have no fresh injury concerns but will have to wait a while longer to see new signing Jack Wighton, as he serves the final game of a suspension.

Latrell Mitchell was a positive for the Rabbitohs in Vegas, putting in a dazzling display and the same will be needed again.

Mitchell is also just one try away from bringing up a century in the NRL.
