NRL: Munster missing for Tigers showdown

Melbourne Storm will be looking to keep the pressure on at the top of the NRL when they face Wests Tigers, but will be missing key players.

The Storm are up to third and could go level on points with Penrith and Brisbane if they can pick up another win against the Tigers.

However it will be far from easy as State of Origin, which takes place on Wednesday, robs them of some big names.

Melbourne are not the only side to be affected of course and it makes everything even more interesting this weekend.

There are two other games to look forward to on Saturday with Newcastle Knights entertaining Sydney Roosters, while Parramatta face Manly Sea Eagles. It is all set up for a cracking day of top NRL action.

Wests Tigers have shown signs of improvement following a horror start to the season and the 66-18 win over the Cowboys shows what they are capable of.

However, they have lost the last two and remain at the foot of the ladder with the Dragons. To make matters worse they have lost the influential Api Koroisau and Luke Brooks to injuries.

The game will be played at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, which is not a happy venue for the Tigers having lost their last seven games there.

Melbourne Storm will be buzzing after smashing the Sharks last weekend, but there will be no Cameron Munster and Harry Grant, who are both on Origin duty.

Jonah Pezet has proven to be a more than capable deputy when filling in for Munster in the past and he will step in alongside Jahrome Hughes in the halves once again.

Nick Meaney has scored six tries in his last six games against the Tigers, and is priced at 2.40 to score at Anytime on Saturday.

Knights strong on home soil

The Knights remain within touching distance of the top eight and showed what they are capable of when giving the Broncos a run for their money at Suncorp last week.

Newcastle were leading by eight points with just 12 minutes remaining before the Broncos scored two late tries to get the job done.

They should still take heart from the performance and with Kalyn Ponga looking back to his best, the Knights will be confident of turning over the Roosters in the Hunter.

Newcastle have won four of the last five games on home soil and Dominic Young is another player who is in top form when scoring seven tries in his last six games. The winger is priced at 6.50 to grab the first try of the game.

Everyone is still waiting for the Roosters to spark into life and they need to get a move on as they sit just one point and one place above the Knights. They have won just once in the last five games and there is no James Tedesco to lead them this week.

Origin stars missing for Eels and Sea Eagles

Ninth takes on eighth at CommBank Stadium and both the Eels and Sea Eagles head into the game on the back of morale-boosting wins. Parramatta eased passed the Bulldogs, while Manly smashed the Dragons.

However, they both lose key players to State of Origin. Eels playmaker Mitch Moses has been given the nod to replace Nathan Cleary in the New South Wales side, while Sea Eagles star duo Daly Cherry-Evans and Tom Trbojevic have linked up with Queensland.

Even without the big guns, we are still in for a cracker of a game as there is no love lost between the two sides. We could be in for a close one and the Eels are priced at 6.50 to win by 1-5 points.
