NRL: Munster to help Storm get back on track

Melbourne Storm will attempt to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they entertain Brisbane Broncos on Thursday night.

After starting the season with two wins, the Storm came back down to earth with a two-point defeat against Newcastle Knights.

They have had a week off to regroup and recover and should be ready to go again when they face the Broncos.

The possible return of Cameron Munster will also be key to their chances.

Brisbane have had a tough start to the season with two wins and two defeats, but they are still one of the hot fancies to win the premiership in 2024.

They can be backed at 4.50 to win the grand final this season, while the Storm are also in the mix at 8.50.

Thursday night has the potential to be a cracker with both sides going all out to pick up what would be a very important win even at this early stage in the season.

Storm hope for Munster return

The Storm are keeping their fingers crossed that star playmaker Cameron Munster will be able to make his first appearance of the season.

Munster has been nursing a groin injury, but he has been back in training over the last week and they hope he will be able to face the Broncos.

The Storm beat reigning premiers Penrith Panthers in their opening game of the season and now get the chance to knock over the hotly-fancied Broncos.

They managed to beat the Broncos by 10 points last season, but then Brisbane got their revenge the week after in finals, winning 26-0.

It looks set to be a tight game on Thursday night and the Storm can be backed at 6.00 to win by 6-10 points.

They do have a solid record at AAMI Park, and home advantage could prove to be the difference against the Broncos.

Broncos bounce back in style

Brisbane have had a tough start to the season when losing to the Sydney Roosters and Penrith.

However, they bounced back in style when crushing North Queensland Cowboys 38-12 in the derby clash at Suncorp last weekend.

It proved they can cope without Reece Walsh, who is facing a spell on the sidelines due to a fractured cheekbone.

Young gun Tristan Sailor impressed in Walsh’s absence, so it looks as though the number one jersey will be in safe hands.

The Broncos were rampant against the Cowboys, running in six tries, with six different try scorers.

Ezra Mam was among them to continue his strong start to the season, while the fit-again Adam Reynolds was deadly with the boot.

The Broncos can be backed at 13.00 to carry on where they left off at the weekend and win by 11-15 points.
