A-League: Nix unexpectedly setting the pace

Wellington Phoenix are flying high and will be looking to keep the good run going when they travel to Sydney FC on Friday night.

After suffering a shock 3-0 home defeat against Newcastle Jets, the Nix have bounced back in fine style with wins over Macarthur FC and Western Sydney Wanderers.

Heading into Matchday 10, the Nix sit three points clear at the top of the ladder and have to be taken seriously when it come to the title chase.

They are now 5.00 to win the minor premiership, with only Melbourne Victory at 4.00, a shorter price.

Sydney FC are down in 10th spot on the ladder and have work to do to make the top six and play finals.

They are priced at 2.20 to do it, but they need to start stringing consistent results together for it to happen.

Sydney need to plug the leak

Sydney FC picked up just their third win of the season when beating Western United 4-2 on home soil last weekend.

Two of those wins have been at Allianz Stadium, but against teams around them on the ladder, so the visit of the Phoenix could prove to be the biggest test yet.

Conceding goals continues to be an issue for Ufuk Talay’s side and they have let nine in over the last four games.

They have leaked a total of 18 goals for the season, the third worst record in the A-League. That is in comparison to the seven that Wellington have conceded.

The last three meetings between the two sides have also been tight. The last two have finished 1-0, the other was a 1-1 draw.

Under 2.5 goals in Friday night’s game can be backed at 2.35.

Joe Lolley continues to be one of the biggest goal threats for Sydney and the former Nottingham Forest star is priced at 3.00 to score at anytime.

This after bagging a brace in the win over Macarthur.

Nix out to keep top spot

Phoenix look to be a big price at 4.00 to win in Sydney, something they did last season when beating the Sky Blues 1-0.

The Nix head to Allianz Stadium as league leaders and have already won away at Macarthur and Western United this season.

They have also kept clean sheets in the last two wins and should be feeling good about themselves ahead of the game.

Kosta Barbarouses looks to be the man in form, having scored three goals in his last two games and he is priced at 4.50 to keep that run going by scoring at anytime.

Another 1-0 away win can also be backed at 17.00.
