2024 NRL season: Dates, teams, history & more

The 2024 NRL campaign is shaping up to be another cracker, with Penrith Panthers targeting four straight premierships and Brisbane Broncos looking to bounce back from Grand Final heartbreak.

The NRL have confirmed the full fixture list and draw for the 2024 season, which includes two blockbuster matches to be played in Las Vegas.

While the Panthers will once again be the team to beat in the 2024 season, the Broncos could be the team end their reign, while a handful of others will also be in the mix.

The new season is some way away, but with the draw now revealed, the countdown to another epic season will be on.

NRL set to open in Las Vegas

The 2024 NRL campaign is set to get underway at the start of March and kicks off with a captivating Las Vegas double header.

The most anticipated Premiership opener in the game’s history will feature Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles v South Sydney Rabbitohs and Sydney Roosters v Brisbane Broncos.

The action will then return to Australia the week after.

Reigning premiers Penrith begin their title defence with a blockbuster in Melbourne against the Storm on Friday 8th March.

Other fixtures see Newcastle Knights play Canberra Raiders, New Zealand Warriors v Cronulla Sharks, Parramatta Eels v Canterbury Bulldogs, Gold Coast Titans v St George Illawarra Dragons and The Dolphins v North Queensland Cowboys.

The Wests Tigers receive the bye in round one.

Panthers target four in a row

2023 was expected to be the year when Penrith stepped aside and let someone else have a go after winning two premierships on the spin.

There were question marks over whether they still had the desire to win another, while a number of key players moved on.

However, Ivan Cleary’s men showed they were just as hungry for success, and the new players that stepped in proved to be just as good.

No doubt the same questions will be asked again ahead of 2024, but it is fair to say the Panthers will be up for it.

They can be backed at 3.50 to win the grand final, and despite the likes of Stephen Crichton moving on, they will still have the quality to win another grand final.

Roosters looking to lure Wallabies ace

Sydney Roosters will be looking to close the gap on the Panthers following a strong end to the 2023 campaign that saw them battle hard in the finals before going out.

They can be backed at 10.00 to go all the way this season and will have a roster capable of doing it.

However, looking further ahead, Trent Robinson’s side are looking to pull off a coup for the 2025 campaign.

The Roosters are still salty after losing Josepg Suaalii to Rugby Union when his contract expires at the end of 2024, and they are looking to bite back.

The Bondi outfit are said to be in talks with Wallabies ace Mark Nawaqanitawase, in the hope he will switch codes and be the perfect replacement for Suaalii.
