NRL: Cowboys look to bounce back

North Queensland Cowboys will be out to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they take on struggling Gold Coast Titans.

The Cowboys started the campaign with three wins before coming unstuck against the Brisbane Broncos last week.

They can still be backed at 15.00 to win the 2024 NRL grand final, and a win over the Titans is a must.

Gold Coast have had a horror start to the season and new coach Des Hasler is still looking for his first win.

Hasler is a premiership winning coach, who has turned teams around in the past, but this could be his biggest challenge yet.

A shock win over the Cowboys would be a good start.

Cowboys must respond

The Cowboys were disappointing last week when too many errors cost them badly in a 26-point loss against the Broncos.

They will look to put that behind them and bounce back in another Queensland derby when they entertain the Titans.

Todd Payten’s side do have a good record against the Gold Coast when winning three of the last four meetings.

In the corresponding fixture in 2023, the Cowboys won by 12 points, and are priced at 3.25 to win by 1-12 points on this occasion as well.

They have played one game at home so far this season, beating Newcastle by just one points, and will be hoping for a more convincing win this time.

Scott Drinkwater did grab a try in the clash with the Broncos and is 11.00 to get the first of the game, or 2.35 to score at anytime.

Titans struggling to fire

After losing the opening three games of the season, scoring just 18 points in the process, the Titans are doing it tough.

They will start with new players on both wings this week, and they will be hoping to get among the tries.

Jojo Fifita and new recruit Harley Smith-Shields are both 3.10 to grab a try at anytime.

Townsville is not a happy hunting ground either, and they have won just one game in the last 12 there.

But upsets do happen and they can be backed at 13.00 to win by 1-5 points.
