NRL: Dolphins look forward to Redcliffe return

The Dolphins will want to return to winning ways and consolidate a place in the top four when they entertain Canberra Raiders in Redcliffe.

Wayne Bennett’s side have been flying but suffered a setback when losing to New Zealand Warriors last weekend.

They will be hoping it was just a blip and will be keen to bounce back against the Raiders when they return to Kayo Stadium.

Canberra are five places below the Dolphins, but only two points separate the two teams due to the compact nature of the NRL ladder.

The Raiders also head into the game on the back of a defeat and Ricky Stuart will be wanting to see a response from his players.

There was little to separate these two when they met last season, and it could be another tight one on Saturday night.

. What: Dolphins v Canberra Raiders
. Where: Kayo Stadium, Redcliffe
. When: 19:35 (AEST), Saturday 1st June 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel
. Odds: Dolphins 1.58, Canberra Raiders 2.40

Dolphins missing key duo

Once again State of Origin means that teams will have to do without key players, and the Dolphins will be missing both Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Felise Kaufusi.

Tabuai-Fidow has been huge for the Dolphins this season and it will be down to Trai Fuller to fill his boots on Saturday.

The lively fullback can be backed at 2.50 to grab his chance by scoring a try at anytime in the game.

Jamayne Isaako is a man in form having scored six tries in his last five games, and the winger can be backed at 6.50 to score the first of the game.

The Dolphins have played just one game at Kayo Stadium this season and it saw them beat the Dragons 38-0 back in round two.

They have won three of the last four games at the venue, including a six-point win of the Raiders last season.

It could be close again and the Dolphins are priced at 3.40 to win the game by 1-12 points.

Raiders searching for consistency

It has been an up a down season for the Raiders, who suffered a 28-point defeat against Sydney Roosters last week and will be determined to bounce back.

A victory in Redcliffe will see them go level on 16 points with the Dolphins, so there is extra motivation there, should any be needed.

They have been handed a big boost with the return of prop Josh Papali’i from suspension, but Hudson Young is with the Blues at State of Origin.

Jordan Rapana has a good record of scoring tries in Queensland and will be a threat for the Raiders on Saturday night.

He has scored four tries in his last three trips to the state and is 3.30 to grab another at anytime.

Canberra beat the Dolphins by just one point at GIO Stadium last season, but a trip to Queensland represents a sterner test.

However they showed what they are capable of when beating Manly on their own patch a couple of weeks and are capable of doing the same here.

They can be backed at 7.00 to win by 1-5 points.
