With just two rounds of the regular season remaining, seven teams have already confirmed their place in the finals, with one spot still up for grabs.
The Melbourne Storm, Sydney Roosters, Cronulla Sharks, Penrith Panthers, Canterbury Bulldogs, North Queensland Cowboys and Man Sea Eagles all know they will be playing finals football this season.
St George Illawarra Dragons, Brisbane Broncos, Newcastle Knights, Canberra Raiders and the Dolphins all have a shot at claiming that coveted eighth spot at the end of the 27 rounds.
As the battle to reach the post-season continues, here’s a closer look at the odds on teams to reach the 2024 NRL grand final.
Melbourne Storm - 1.70
The standout team in the NRL this season with 18 wins from 22 games, the Storm are the understandable favourites to reach the grand final.
After missing out on the showpiece event last year, Melbourne look motivated to make it this time around.
Penrith Panthers - 1.90
The reigning champions and dominant force in the NRL in recent years, Penrith Panthers are once again in the mix for the title.
This side have been there and done it in the finals and will take some stopping to be denied the title for a fourth consecutive year.
Sydney Roosters - 1.90
The Roosters have come on leaps and bounds this season and currently occupy second place on the ladder behind the Storm.
Experienced coach Trent Robinson has guided the Roosters to three previous titles and will be determined to reach the grand final again this season.
Canterbury Bulldogs - 4.00
The Bulldogs have been one of the surprise packages in the NRL this season and fully deserve to be sat in fifth place on the ladder.
Last making the grand final in 2014, perhaps this is the year the Bulldogs make it back to the main event.
Cronulla Sharks - 5.50
It was 2016 the last time the Sharks were in the grand final, in a match they beat the Storm to win the title.
Currently on a four-game winning streak, Cronulla will be a tough proposition for teams in the finals.
Manly Sea Eagles - 10.00
With mixed form at present with two wins and two defeats in their last four games, Manly will need to find some consistency if they are to reach this season’s grand final.
Last making the showpiece event in 2013, the Sea Eagles will be hoping for another shot at title glory this time around.
North Queensland Cowboys - 15.00
Another side to make real progress this season, the Cowboys have won 13 of their 22 games so far this season.
Winning 11 at this same stage last season, North Queensland are a team on the up but whether they can reach the grand final for the first time since 2017 remains to be seen.
Brisbane Broncos - 41.00
It’s hard to believe that last season’s grand final runners-up find themselves battling to even make the top-eight this season.
Currently two points behind the Dragons with games against the Dolphins and the Storm to come, it’s going to take something special for the Broncos to make it into the top eight, never mind a return to the grand final.
