The Gold Coast Titans will be boosted by the return of influential skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui as they attempt to return to finals in 2025.
The Titans have had a rough few seasons in the NRL, but hope that Fa’asuamaleaui will provide the inspiration to get them up the ladder.
Coach Des Hasler will have a strong roster available to him, but they will have to play some consistent rugby league if they are to make the eight.
Let’s take a look at how the Gold Coast Titans are shaping up ahead of the 2025 NRL season.
The Gold Coast Titans will be lead by head coach Des Hasler, who is set to embark on his second season with the club.
Hasler took over from Justin Holbrook ahead of the 2024 NRL campaign and got off to the worse possible start when losing the opening six games.
They did improve and the 66-6 win over the New Zealand Warriors was the biggest victory in the club’s history.
The Titans went on to finish the season in 14th spot on the ladder, and now the goal will be to significantly improve on that.
Hasler has vast experience in the NRL and guided Manly Sea Eagles to two grand final wins in 2008 and 2011.
With 482 NRL games under his belt, the Titans are in good hands heading into the new season.
The return of Tino Fa’asuamaleaui will be like having a new signing for the Titans.
The influential prop missed virtually the whole of last season after rupturing his ACL in the round three loss to the Bulldogs.
His loss was a massive blow to the Titans and would have had a big impact on their season.
Fa’asuamaleaui will be desperate to make up for lost time and will be a key player as long as he stays fit and on the pitch.
The Titans have some exciting players in their squad, including fullback Keano Kini and Alofiana Khan-Pereira, who was their leading try scorer last season,
They have also made a couple of solid signings with Reagan Campbell-Gillard arriving from Parramatta Eels.
He will play in the forwards with David Fifita, so the Titans will not be short of power in that area of the park.
Gold Coast have also brought in former Wallabies playmaker Carter Gordon from Rugby Union, and all eyes will be on him to see how he shapes up in the NRL.
The Gold Coast Titans have not made the top eight since 2021, and it would be viewed as a big achievement if they can get back there in 2025.
The Titans can be backed at 3.40 to make the top eight this season, and 1.33 to miss out.
