NRL Profile: South Sydney Rabbitohs

Only Wests Tigers finished below the South Sydney Rabbitohs last season and the Bunnies will know they have a mountain to climb to get back to the top in the NRL.

Finishing ninth in the 2023 NRL campaign, there has been a steady decline at the Rabbitohs from a side that managed to famously win the Grand Final in 2014 and finished as runners-up in 2021.

Looking to get back to grand final is the plan for the hierarchy and players at Accor Stadium and the road back to the top starts here.

Let’s take a look at the Rabbitohs ahead of the 2025 NRL campaign.

NRL Outright Odds

Bennett return a significant boost

The return of head coach Wayne Bennett to Souths should see a line in the sand drawn from last season and the Bunnies look to get back to challenging near the top of the ladder.

Coaches don’t come more experience in the NRL than the no-nonsense Bennett, who even at the age of 75, still has the hunger to succeed in this competition.

Following his spell with the Dophins, Bennett is back with the Rabbitohs and will look to drive standards back to what they once were.

Ins and outs at Accor Stadium

Some big names have come and gone at Accor Stadium over the off-season, with the likes of Tom Burgess, Damie Cook, Dean Hawkins, Michael Chee Kam and Lachlan Ilias all moving on to new clubs.

Souths have been busy bringing in fresh faces with Jamie Humphreys and Josh Schuster both joining from rivals Manly Sea Eagles.

Euan Aitken and Jayden Sullivan have joined from the Dolphins and Tigers respectively, while the highly-rated Lewis Dodd has made the long trip from St Helens in England to take up a new challenge with the Rabbitohs.

With Bennett able to guide these new players into the Rabbitohs’ ways, there is growing excitement about what Souths can look to achieve in the 2025 NRL season.

South Sydney Rabbitohs odds

The Rabbitohs are out at 34.00 to win the grand final in 2025, while in contrast, Melbourne Storm are the 3.75 favourites.

South Sydney are 2.50 to finish the regular season in the top eight and 1.53 to fall short in that goal.

Finishing in the top four would be a remarkable achievement considering where the Bunnies were last season and the Rabbitohs are available at 6.50 to do it this year.
