NRL Profile: Sydney Roosters

Sydney Roosters are set to bring in a new era in 2025 after a number of high-profile players either moved on to pastures new or retired.

The Roosters have failed to live up to deliver in recent seasons, but at least in the new NRL campaign, expectations will not be high.

That is down to the fact that some key players have switched clubs, rugby codes and retired, while injuries are not helping matters.

Sydney Roosters are one of the biggest clubs in the NRL, and with that mantle comes pressure to succeed.

However a place in the top four and a double shot in finals, may be the best the supporters can hope for.

Let’s take a look at how Sydney Roosters are shaping up ahead of the 2025 NRL season.

NRL Outright Odds

Roosters in safe hands

Sydney Roosters have one of the most successful NRL coaches at the helm in the form of Trent Robinson.

Robinson has been in charge since 2013, coaching the Roosters for 311 NRL games, winning three grand finals in the process.

The golden era was in 2018 and 2019 when the Roosters won back-to-back premierships, but they have failed to win it since.

Four semi-final defeats were to follow, while they came up short once again in 2024, this time losing a preliminary final against Melbourne Storm.

Robinson has had to negotiate some tricky times over the last couple of seasons as, despite winning three premierships, some have suggested it could be time for change.

However the Roosters board are keeping faith in Robinson as he embarks on a mini rebuild.

New-look Roosters for 2025

Some big names have left the Roosters ahead of the 2025 season and it will be interesting to see how they cope.

It was blow for the NRL as a whole, not just the Roosters, when Joey Manu and Joseph Suaalli decided to switch codes and join rugby union.

They will take some replacing as will Luke Keary and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, who have moved to the English Super League.

Sam Walker and Brandon Smith are also out injured, which means the Roosters strength in depth will be severely tested early on.

It has been suggested that the Roosters have not done enough to fill the gaps left by the departures, but signings have been made.

Experienced playmaker Chad Townsend arrives from the Cowboys, while luring Spencer Leniu from Penrith Panthers was also a huge coup.

The Roosters still have quality in their side and will once again be skippered by of the NRL greats in the form of fullback James Tedesco.

Sydney Roosters odds

The Roosters are viewed as outsiders to win the 2025 NRL grand final, and are priced at 17.00.

The top four is looking more realistic if they have a good season, and they can be backed at 4.00 to make it, or 1.25 to miss out.
