NRL: Tigers look to get back on track

Wests Tigers and the Dragons head into Sunday’s clash on the back of defeats in the last round and will be keen to get back on track.

The Tigers had been in great form when winning two on the bounce, but too many errors contributed to them coming unstuck against the Dolphins.

The same can be said regards the Dragons, who gifted Newcastle too many opportunities in wet conditions last Friday night.

A top eight finish for either side would be a huge achievement this season and the Dragons can be backed at 7.00 to get there.

The Tigers can be backed at 5.50 to play finals for the first time in 13 years, but they do look to be a club on the up under the leadership of Benji Marshall.

Victory over the Dragons will have the long-suffering Tigers fans dreaming of a big season.

Tigers need to cut out errors

The Tigers have shown great improvement this season, but the amount of errors against the Dolphins will have left Benji Marshall frustrated.

They produced 11 errors during the 26-16 defeat and will need to cut them out if they are to return to winning ways.

The Tigers have shown what they can do with wins over the Sharks and Eels and will look to return to that kind of form.

Campbelltown has not been a happy home venue for them over the last two seasons. They have played six games at the venue, and have lost all of them.

They have also picked up just one win over the Dragons in the last four meetings, but now could be the time to make it number two.

It is likely to be a close game with little to choose between the two sides and the Tigers are 6.00 to win by 6-10 points.

Solomona Faataape helped himself to a couple of tries against the Dolphins and can be backed at 3.75 to keep the run going and score at anytime.

Lomax key for Dragons

The Dragons also put in an error-strewn performance against the Knights, producing 18 in very wet conditions.

The weather was a contributor, but coach Shane Flanagan will still want to see a much-improved performance against the Tigers.

Zac Lomax has been a key player for the Dragons in the opening rounds and will need to put in a big performance once again.

There is the possibility of him switching to fullback for this game, and he is 10.00 to score the first try or 2.35 to score at anytime.

Campbelltown Sports Stadium has been a happy hunting ground for the Dragons, winning three of their four trips to the venue.

They can be backed at 3.25 to win this one by 1-12 points.
