The 2025 NRL season gets underway in Las Vegas this weekend and the battle to finish as the Top Points Scorer looks set to be a close one over a long campaign.
The key to finishing as the Top Points Scorer in the NRL is kicking goals, but scoring tries also helps, as was the case with Valentine Holmes in 2024.
Holmes took the honours last season, and without doubt, the fact that he scored 16 tries in 24 games, helped him finish top of the pile.
A host of top-class NRL players are in the mix to win it in 2025, so let’s take a closer look at the NRL Top Points Scorer Outright Odds.
The fullback has been a revelation for the Dolphins since they joined the NRL in 2023, and he is sure to be a big player for them once again.
Isaako finished third Top Points Scorer in 2024 with a total of 223 points after scoring 12 tries and kicking 87 goals.
That was a big improvement on 2023 as far as goal-kicking was concerned. He managed 73 goals that year, but was not as prolific scoring tries last season.
Isaako scored 24 tries in 2023, double what he managed in 2024, and he will have to rediscover that kind of form if he is to come out on top this season.
The Manly Sea Eagles finished fifth in the standings last season, but will be out to take his game to another level in 2025.
Garrick had his second best season with Manly in 2024 when scoring 10 tries and kicking 81 goals for 202 points.
However that is nothing compared to 2021 when he booted 121 goals on his way to 334 points.
Much will depend on the kind of season Manly have as a whole, but if they are in the top eight, them Garrick will have the chance to pile on some big points.
Meaney was the leading goal-kicker in 2024 with 106 goals to his name, which helped him to second Top Points Scorer overall.
With Melbourne Storm expected to pushing to win the premiership, Meaney should get plenty more opportunities in front of the sticks.
However he may need to chip in with a few more tries. He managed just five last season, after hitting double figures in the previous three seasons.
The Penrith Panthers ace is one of the NRL’s very best, but unfortunately for him, injuries have hampered him.
Cleary kicked 50 goals last season, but only played 13 matches, compared to the 24 that Meaney and Holmes made.
The halfback’s best return was in 2021 when he amassed 231 points in 20 appearances, kicking 94 goals and scoring 10 tries.
Holmes finished Top Points Scorer in 2024 with 266 points, and that tally was helped by the fact that he scored an impressive 16 tries.
He also booted 101 goals while playing for the North Queensland Cowboys, but it will be all change in 2025.
Holmes has switched clubs to the Dragons and it remains to be seen if he will be able to produce the same kind of numbers with the Red V.
The Dragons could be fighting to avoid the wooden spoon, meaning Holmes is unlikely to be piling on the points like last year.
