Australian Racing: October Revolution on the march

There are four meetings set to take place today including two from New South Wales with Taree and Armidale both set to race.

Race 1 Armidale

Turnaway @ 2.80

Race 6 Taree

October Revolution @ 2.90

Race 4 Dalby

Dominarcher @ 3.50

Turnaway for Armidale success

The opening race on the Armidale card is an intriguing Benchmark 58 handicap over 1900m. Spoke To Rajiv is expected to have his supporters having doubled his career tally when triumphing by half-a-length in a Benchmark 58 handicap over 2050m at Gunnedah on 28th May.

That success came on a good 4 track and with similar conditions forecast here he rates a leading player in this field. Preference however is for TURNAWAY who has been running well in defeat since recording a length success in a 1900m Class 1 event on a soft 5 track here in January.

The selection's four subsequent efforts have seen him finish in the first four on each occasion including when beaten by a head in a Benchmark 58 event over 1300m here in April.

Versatile distance wise the gelding showed solid form when fourth in an eight-runner Class 1 contest on a soft 6 track at Gosford when last in action on 25th May.

Trained by Cameron Crockette the pick is expected to appreciate the step back up in distance and with a good alley in four he can race close to the pace prior to delivering a second career win.

Revolution to complete double

The penultimate race on Taree’s seven-race card is an eye-catching 1007m Benchmark 66 handicap contest.

The going is expected to be a soft 5 for the race with OCTOBER REVOLUTION taking the eye here having shown good form in winning three times already in 2023.

Two of those triumphs have come on wet tracks including when victorious by just over three-quarters-of-a-length in a Benchmark 50 on a soft 6 track in April.

The pick has had three starts since then including when partnered by his jockey here Aaron Bullock when registering a narrow margin victory at Benchmark 58 level back at Port Macquarie on 29th May.

The four-year-old has a good alley four off the rail and with further improvement expected, he looks capable of saluting stepping up in grade.

Dominarcher for Dalby glory

Beppe has won two of his four starts this spell and is expected to have his supporters ahead of the fourth race on the Dalby card.

The race concerned is an 1100m Benchmark 65 handicap with the gelding having won by a head at Benchmark 66 level when encountering a heavy 9 track at Murwillumbah.

Bailey Wheeler’s mount is a versatile horse with regards the going having also won on a good 3 track at the same venue this spell.

The son of Snitzel will jump from the rail position here and while he looks the one to beat he may find DOMINACHER too strong on this occasion.

Trained by Billy Healey, Dominarcher jumped at big odds when returning this spell in a 1200m metro level Class 3 contest at Doomben in March.

Ultimately the pick was beaten just two lengths that day and he performed adequately when sixth over the same trip at Ipswich a month ago.

Freshened following that Ipswich effort the switch to a soft track is no issue and with improvement on the cards the Golden Archer gelding looks capable of delivering a victory under Anthony Allen.
