NRL: Panthers face tough Dolphins test

Penrith Panthers will be out to cement their place at the top of the NRL ladder when they take on a Dolphins side that are chasing the top eight.

It remains tight at the top with just two points separating the top five sides, and the Panthers cannot afford to slip up in Redcliffe.

The Dolphins will be out to cause an upset, and they have shown already this season they are capable of doing just that.

Wayne Bennett’s side are just a couple of points behind the top eight but the competition to break in there is fierce and they need a strong end to the season.

With so much riding on Sunday’s clash we could be in for a thriller in front of a packed Kayo Stadium. The Dolphins will be hoping home advantage could get them over the line.

Dolphins out to cause an upset

The Dolphins had been on a shocking run of form following four defeats on the bounce, but managed to snap the losing streak against the Titans last week.

A golden-point win should give the Dolphins a much-needed confidence boost heading into the game against the Panthers as they attempt to pull off a shock.

The Dolphins have already shown in their debut NRL campaign that they are capable of upsetting the form book.

They beat the Roosters in their very first game and have also seen off the Raiders and Sharks this season, so Penrith will be wary.

The Dolphins have not won back-to-back games since the start of the season and now would be a good time to change it.

Home advantage will also be key. The Dolphins have played the bulk of their games at Suncorp Stadium, but they have played two at Kayo Stadium and have won them both.

The Dolphins will be boosted by the return of Felise Kaufusi following concussion, while Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has been named to play following State of Origin.

‘The Hammer’ can be backed at 2.80 to score a try at Anytime during the game.

Origin stars back for Panthers

The Panthers have done very well to come through a tough Origin period in good condition as they sit top of the ladder.

They had no less than six players on Origin duty but still managed to grind out the wins to keep them flying high.

Isaah Yeo, Liam Martin, Stephen Crichton and Brian To'o, who all represented New South Wales in the game three win against Queensland, are all set to come back in.

Nathan Cleary is closing in on making a return following a hamstring injury, but this game comes a week too soon.

Penrith have lost just one game in the last eight and that did come in North Queensland when they were edged out 27-23 by the Cowboys.

They did bounce back well to win the next next two and were very impressive when beating the Storm 34-16 on their own patch in their last game.

The Panthers enjoyed the bye last weekend so they should come back fresh and raring to go this weekend.

Penrith can be backed at 6.00 to beat the Dolphins by 16-20 points.
