Premier League: Spurs can add to Palace’s woes

With seven wins in their last eight games in all competitions, an in-form Tottenham Hotspur will be eager to add to Crystal Palace’s troubles when they meet in the Premier League on Monday morning.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have shown real signs of progress in recent weeks, barring a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Brighton when leading 2-0 at half-time.

A 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League saw fringe players given an opportunity to impress and Postecoglou will have some selection calls to make ahead of Monday’s trip to Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace are one of four teams in the Premier League yet to pick up a win this season and pressure is mounting on manager Oliver Glasner to turn things around.

Spurs can’t afford slip-ups

If Tottenham are to earn a top-four finish this season, it’s games like Monday’s trip to Palace where they simply can’t afford to drop points.

Spurs currently find themselves in seventh place on the Premier League ladder, with four points between them and fourth-place Aston Villa.

Tottenham have a good recent record against Palace, winning all of their last five meetings in the Premier League.

Spurs are 1.80 favourites to claim all three points across the capital in this one, with big money summer signing Dominic Solanke priced at 6.00 to bag the opening goal of the match.

Palace desperate to get off the mark

With pressure mounting on Glasner, the Eagles boss will be determined to cause an upset on home soil in a London derby this weekend.

Palace may have a poor record in this fixture, with their last win over Tottenham coming in September 2021, but the Eagles could spring an upset if they can rediscover the form at the end of last season.

At the end of the last campaign, Glasner saw his side go unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games, winning six of those and drawing the other.

The loss of playmaker Michael Olise and defender Joachim Anderson have taken their toll on Palace, meaning that the first win of the league campaign has proven elusive so far.

Palace are 4.10 to land that first victory of the Premier League campaign on Monday, while a draw at Selhurst Park is also available at 4.10.
