Premier League: Spurs out to avoid Bees sting

Tottenham Hotspur need to snap a two-game losing streak in the Premier League when they take on Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou’s men have got the season off to a disappointing start and have just four points from a possible 12.

It is still very early days in the season, but they cannot afford many more slip ups as they look to secure a place in the top four and play Champions League football.

They can be backed at 4.50 to finish in the top four come the end of the season and they need to kick-start their campaign with a win over the Bees.

Brentford are two points ahead of Spurs on the ladder after winning two from their four games, and they will be no pushovers.

A top-half finish would be a big achievement for Brentford this season and they can be backed at 4.00 to achieve that goal.

Spurs in need of a boost

After losing to arch rivals Arsenal in the derby last week, their second Premier League loss on the bounce, nothing other than three points will do against Brentford.

It is Tottenham’s worst start to a season since 2015/16 and they cannot afford any more dropped points.

They did manage to win 2-1 at Coventry in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, but Postecoglou rested a host of players in that game.

Brennan Johnson did play though, and his confidence will have been given a huge boost after scoring the winner in stoppage time.

Johnson can now be backed at 7.50 to score the first goal of the game against Brentford, or 3.00 to bag at anytime in the game.

Spurs lost on home soil against the Gunners, but in the only other game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they beat Everton 4-0.

Over 2.5 goals against Brentford can be backed at 1.44, while under is available at 2.75.

Brentford look to cause upset

Brentford showed what they are capable of when giving Manchester City a run for their money before losing 2-1 at the weekend.

The performance should give them confidence and they will be out to pick up at least a point against Tottenham.

They have won at Tottenham before though, a 3-1 win in May 2023, so it shows it can be done.

However they will have to do it without Yoane Wissa, who is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury against City.

Strike star Igor Thiago is also missing, so Brentford will have to look elsewhere to get the goals they need.

Bryan Mbeumo could be their best hope, and his is 4.00 to score at anytime.
