Tottenham Hotspur splashed the cash to bring in fresh faces over the summer with the club clearly looking at long-term success as opposed to signing finished articles.
Of the five players signed, four are still teenagers, while the eldest at 26 is arguably yet to reach his prime years in the Premier League.
Here’s a report looking back at the summer transfer window for Spurs and a verdict on how the north London outfit did.
Dominic Solanke’s move from Bournemouth has to be a major positive for a Spurs side who are 3.50 to finish in the top four this season.
Impressing with the Cherries last season, Solanke is ready to make the step up to Tottenham and hopefully fulfil his potential under manager Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou’s arrival at Spurs came as star striker Harry Kane was going out of the doors to Bayern Munich and now the Australian has Solanke to build an attack around this season.
Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Min-hyeok Yang are the teenage stars who could well be the future of Tottenham Hotspur.
Yang will eventually make the move in January next year after the 18-year-old signed a five-year deal from Gangwon FC.
Gray was a big-money arrival from Leeds United, who saw the academy starlet as a generational talent at Elland Road.
Given time, Gray could be something really special in north London.
Odobert’s arrival from Burnley came out of the blue but the winger looks to be an exciting prospect that will something different to Spurs this season.
Swedish international Bergvall looks like a player who is mature beyond his years and it will be interesting to see how the 18-year-old develops over the coming months.
To see Eric Dier and Tanguy Ndombele both leave the club on frees must count against Spurs on their summer report here.
Dier was a great servant to Tottenham over the years and at the age of 30, one still feels he might have had more to offer, or should have at least been sold for some sort of return.
The 27-year-old Ndombele will ultimately go down as a Spurs flop following his arrival for €62million with up to €10million in add-ons in July 2019.
Five years at the club and just 63 Premier League appearances with six goals, five assists and seven yellow cards, Ndombele was an expensive flop who has left on a free to join Ligue 1 side Nice.
The signing of Solanke looks to be a shrewd move and given time to settle in, the English striker should be a good source of goals for Postecoglou.
As for the other signings, given their ages, only time will tell whether these players turn out to be the real deal.
The outings of Dier and Ndombele with no money coming back in, count against Spurs here and leave them with a B grade for the summer window.
Some signs of promise but can do better.
