Big Bash preview: Melbourne Renegades v Adelaide Strikers

Adelaide Strikers have their sights set on a top-four finish in the Big Bash League and next up is a trip to Melbourne to take on the Renegades.

The Strikers can be backed at 5.00 to go on and make the final in 2023/24, but they will need to pick up their form for that to happen.

They have just one win so far this season, but it could quite easily have been two, after losing by one run to the Sydney Sixers last match.

Now they need to bounce when they take on a Renegades side that have lost four games this season and are battling to avoid the wooden spoon.

Matt not coming up Short for Strikers

The Strikers came up just short against the Sixers last Friday, but on another day could have left the SCG with a win.

Having won the toss and putting the Sixers into bat, Jamie Overton took 3-23 off four overs as the home side made 155-7.

However, it was Matt Short who was player-of-the-match for the Strikers. Not only did he post figures of 2-13 from two overs, he also starred with the bat.

Short was the leading batter for the Strikers with 55, while Overton also backed up his fine bowling performance with 31 not out.

Overton is priced at 4.33 to be the Strikers Team - Top Bowler when they face the Renegades.

Matt Short has 137 runs in the two matches that have been completed and he will be needed again. So too will Overton, who has taken five wickets in total.

Short is priced at 3.40 to be Team - Top Batter, while Chris Lynn can be backed at 4.75.

Lynn made 37 against the Sixers, but it was not enough to get the Strikers over the line.

Renegades show spirit

The Renegades are still looking for their first win of BBL 13 after slipping to a 13-run loss against the Scorchers in Perth on Boxing Day.

The Renegades showed great spirit when fighting back against the Scorchers, who looked like running away with the match.

Sitting on 124-3 the Scorchers looked set for a total of over 200, but the Renegades rallied to skittle them out for 162.

Tom Rogers and Will Sutherland were the star performers with the ball, taking three wickets each. Rogers was the pick with 3-18, while Sutherland was more expensive in conceding 36.

Rogers can be backed at 4.50 to be Team - Top Bowler against the Strikers.

The Renegades looked in with a shout of reaching the target, but once they lost Shaun Marsh and Joe Clarke it was an uphill battle.

Marsh made an impressive 59 off 36 deliveries and is priced at 4.50 to be Team - Top Batter.
