Big Bash preview: Perth Scorchers v Hobart Hurricanes

Perth Scorchers will be back on home soil for the first time in the BBL this season when they take on Hobart Hurricanes on Wednesday.

Their opening game at GMHBA Stadium in Melbourne was abandoned because of a dangerous pitch and they followed that up with a seven-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars at the MCG.

Now they are back at Optus Stadium which has become a fortress and a large crowd is expected to welcome them home.

The Scorchers can be backed at 3.50 to win BBL 13, while the Hurricanes also hope to be in the mix and can be backed at 9.00.

The Canes lost their opening game and will be out to bounce back and cause an upset.

Morris back for Scorchers

The Scorchers have been boosted by the news that fast bowler Lance Morris has been made available by Cricket Australia and will play against the Hurricanes.

Morris was hoping to feature for Australia in the opening Test against Pakistan in Perth, but Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood got the nod instead.

It does mean that Morris is now free to play against the Canes and he looks set to come straight into the side.

The Scorchers side is strengthened further by the addition of star spin bowler Ashton Agar, who has recovered from a calf strain.

It does mean that spin sensation Hamish McKenzie is likely to make way for Agar’s return, which is a bit harsh after he took two wickets against the Stars.

Morris can be backed at 4.50 to be Team - Top Bowler, while Agar is available at 6.00.

The Scorchers were not really tested in the win over the Stars as they chased down a total of 101 with ease.

Stephen Eskinazi top scored with 25 runs, and he can be backed at 4.75 to be Team - Top Batter once again.

Hurricanes look to bounce back

The Hurricanes have played just the one game so far and suffered a six-wicket defeat against the Sydney Sixers.

Now they face another stern test when they make the trip to Western Australia to face the Scorchers.

The Canes managed just 135 runs off their 20 overs against the Sixers, losing eight wickets in the process.

However, Caleb Jewell can be happy with his blistering 42 off just 24 deliveries and he is 4.50 to be Team - Top Batter against the Scorchers.

Corey Anderson was the pick of the bowlers when taking two wickets for just 10 runs of his 3.3 overs.

The Canes bowlers will need to be on top form to get a result in the west and New Zealand all-rounder Anderson is a big price at 8.00 to be Team - Top Bowler.
