Big Bash preview: Sydney Sixers v Brisbane Heat

Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat will try again on Wednesday after their New Year's Day clash was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Heavy rain in Brisbane meant the top-of-the-ladder clash was washed out, and both sides now head to Sydney for the return fixture.

It is the second time that the Heat and Sixers have seen a game abandoned due to rain, but the point they both picked up still means they hold the top two spots in the ladder.

The Heat have 10 points and can be backed at 3.25 to win BBL 13, while the Sixers, who are just two points behind are 6.00.

Perth Scorchers have played two games less however and are the 2.75 hot fancies.

Sixers look to bounce back

The Sixers have not won in three matches after seeing two of them washed out, while they lost the other against the Melbourne Stars by four wickets.

They did start the campaign with three straight wins however and are still in good shape as finals fast approach.

A place in the top four looks nailed on and they can be backed at 2.37 to go on and reach the final.

Despite the defeat against the Stars, there were still positives to take from that game.

Opener James Vince showed his class with a tidy knock of 85 runs from 55 deliveries and managed to hang around until the end of the 17th over.

Now the Sixers need some of their other big guns to step up to the plate, including Josh Philippe and Jordan Silk.

Vince can be backed at 4.00 to be Team - Top Batter, while Philippe is 4.33.

Sydney Sixers continue to share the wickets around with Sean Abbott and Jackson Bird both taking a couple each against the Stars.

Abbott is still viewed as the main threat and is priced at 3.40 to be Team - Top Bowler.

Brisbane looking hot

The Heat are sitting pretty at the top of the ladder and can be backed at 2.00 to go on and reach the final.

Before the washout on New Year’s Day, the Heat picked up their fourth win of BBL 13 when beating Sydney Thunder by 15 runs in the last match.

Nathan McSweeney top-scored with an impressive 73 runs, while opener Josh Brown also chipped in with 39.

McSweeney can be backed at 4.00 to be the top man again, while Colin Munro, who will be looking to return to form is also the same price.

With Matt Renshaw, Sam Billings and Paul Walter also in the line-up, Brisbane have a super strong batting line-up that can take them far.

Xavier Bartlett was the most successful bowler when taking 3-29 off four overs against the Thunder and is 4.50 to be Team = Top Bowler.

Spencer Johnson and Matthew Kuhnemann also took a couple of wickets each and will be a big threat against the Sixers.
