Australian Racing: Prophets to deliver at Grafton

There are four meetings set to take place on Tuesday, with seven-race cards at Grafton, Newcastle and Yeppoon supplemented by an eight-race meeting at Horsham.

Race 7 Grafton

Prophets De'vine 6.00

Race 4 Newcastle

Into The Oblivion @ 5.00

Race 1 Horsham

Sunny Times @ 2.50

Prophets goes for Grafton glory

The finale at Grafton is a 1720m Class 1 set weights event with a soft 5 expected for the 16-runner contest.

I Am Good At This has been in good form since returning from nearly a year off the track in July, including when breaking his maiden at Murwillumbah on his penultimate start.

The gelding triumphed by nearly two lengths on a good 3 track when racing over 1550m on that occasion and performed well against winners at this circuit subsequently.

Matthew McGuren's representative lost out by a narrow margin when runner-up in this grade here when last in action September 11th.

While the softer going here should prove no issue, the five-year-old has to prove his stamina over this 1720m distance and PROPHETS DE'VINE is preferred here.

Trained by Annabel Neasham, the filly showed a liking for a soft 5 surface when beaten less than a length into fourth in a 1400m maiden at Sunshine Coast when racing first up this spell.

The 6.00 four-year-old went on to record her first victory two starts later when scoring by nearly two-and-a-half-lengths in a 1600m maiden at Gatton just under three weeks ago.

Ashley Morgan's mount shaped as if a step up in distance would suit and she is taken to complete a double returning to soft going.

Oblivion to score for Perry

The fourth race of the day at Newcastle is a 2130m Benchmark 58 handicap contest and, with a good 4 track expected, Myeyesadoreyou is expected to prove popular with punters.

The five-year-old has shown good form since being stepped up in distance in recent times, including when saluting in impressive fashion over 2200m in a Class 1 set weights affair at Scone.

A good third over 2300m in a Benchmark 64 handicap at Newcastle followed and Lee Magorrian's mount is expected to race from mid-division in this contest.

Trainer Paul Perry also saddles INTO THE OBLIVION, who is taken to get the better of her stablemate having delivered some solid efforts of late.

Those efforts include a fourth when jumping at big odds for the Gold Cup over 2100m at Tuncurry on his penultimate start.

The 5.00 veteran galloper raced on a heavy 8 track on that occasion and proved that that was no issue when runner-up subsequently.

That latest effort placed second in the previously mentioned Benchmark 64 handicap at Newcastle and, having finished strongly that day, she is taken to score under Jess Taylor.

Times to salute at Horsham

The opening race at Horsham is an interesting-looking 1800m set weights maiden contest, with SUNNY TIMES expected to prove hard to beat.

The Paul Preusker-trained gelding has shown a liking for this trip in recent starts, finishing second on his last two outings.

The most recent of those came when beaten nearly two lengths on a soft 6 track at Casterton earlier this month.

The 2.50 four-year-old raced from mid-division that day, but is tactically versatile, having been ridden from close to the speed when runner-up at Mount Gambier prior.

The son of Tosen Stardom has underfoot conditions forecast to suit and, with Ryan Houston taking two kilograms off, he looks capable of breaking his maiden at the sixth attempt.
