Recreant @ 7.00

Race 5 Warren

Lipstick Lil @ 3.40

Race 3 Gatton

Husson's Revenge @ 2.80

Recreant ready to deliver success

The feature race of the day at Ararat is set to take place as the sixth race on an eight-race card.

Grand Pierro has delivered some solid efforts of late including when sixth in a 1700m Benchmark 80 handicap at Caulfield on his penultimate outing.

He looks to hold strong claims in the 2200m handicap event with the good 4 going expected to be no issue with regard to his chances.

The four-year-old lost out narrowly stepped up to 1950m in a Benchmark 76 handicap at Morphettville Parks two weeks later and he has won over this trip in the past.

However, RECREANT is preferred on this occasion, with the seven-year-old having shown improved form since joining the Dane Smith stable.

The 7.00 gelding is unbeaten in two starts for the handler including by a narrow margin over 1800m in a Benchmark 58 handicap at Horsham last month.

The son of Rebel Raider duly followed up in a 1700m Benchmark 64 handicap at Warrnambool earlier this month and he is taken to complete a hat-trick stepping up in distance.

Lil backed for Warren triumph

The fifth race on the Warren card is the Matt’s Mates Warren Jockey Club Sprint Handicap over 1200m.

A good 4 track is expected for the race with the in-form Brett Robb team sending out top weight Moetta.

The stable have won with eight of their 32 runners in the last 30 days, with their mare delivering a good second when narrowly beaten at Coonabarabran on October 22nd.

That effort came in an 1100m handicap and she rates a worthy favourite stepping up in trip, having performed well over further in the past.

Jockey Dakota-Lee Gillett takes a valuable two kilograms off the top-weight who will jump from next to the rail, however, she is expected to find LIPSTICK LIL has too much for her here.

The seven-year-old has had a busy time of it in 2023, having made 14 appearances to date, with wins at Narromine and Mudgee included among those starts.

The 3.40 mare’s latest victory came over this trip in a Benchmark 66 handicap at Mudgee September 3rd and she registered her best effort since when runner-up at Gosford earlier this month.

Racing in a sex-restricted Benchmark 64 handicap on a good 4 track in that Gosford contest, the mare lost out narrowly, but can make amends with a victory under Ronald Simpson.

Revenge goes for Gatton glory

The third race of the day at Gatton is a 1400m Class 4 handicap event set to take place on a soft 5 surface.

HUSSON'S REVENGE catches the eye here, having shown good form earlier this spell, including when winning in a Benchmark 62 handicap over 1000m at Toowoomba at the end of September.

Successful on a good 4 track that day, he lost out narrowly when upped to 1200m for a Benchmark 65 handicap when runner-up at Ipswich 11 days later.

Trained by Corey & Kylie Geran, the gelding gets an easier contest here than when sixth in a 1200m event at Doomben at the end of October.

The 2.80 selection acquitted himself well despite jumping at odds of $71 when contesting a set weights event at Doomben and, with a good barrier in two, he looks capable of returning to winning ways.
