A-League: Reds and Bulls both in need of a boost

Adelaide United and Macarthur FC are both struggling to pick up wins in the A-League and will be hoping to secure a victory on Monday evening.

Adelaide were tipped to push for silverware this season, but they are way off the pace after picking up just four wins.

They are currently nine points away from top spot and are priced at 17.00 to win the A-League minor premiership.

Macarthur got the season off to a flyer and looked to be dark horses for the title. However, three defeats and a draw in the last four games has seen them slip down the ladder.

They sit just two points above Adelaide and are 21.00 to win the minor premiership.

A place in the top six is probably the best both sides can hope for and there is a lot at stake in Monday night’s clash at Coopers Stadium.

Reds need to tighten up

Adelaide have won just one game in the last five, and it is their inability to keep a clean sheet that is causing them problems.

Indeed, they have kept just two all season, and have leaked 19 goals in total. Until they sure things up at the back, a charge up the table looks unlikely.

It was the same story in their last outing against Wellington Phoenix at Coopers Stadium when they were held to a 2-2 draw.

Hiroshi Ibusuki scored both goals for the Reds in that draw and he can be backed at 2.60 to score at anytime.

Macarthur also struggle to keep a clean sheet, and with that in mind, both teams to score is available at 1.40.

Adelaide will make at least one change to their side after Ben Warland was sent off late in the game against the Phoenix.

Bulls must buck trend

The last time the two sides met it was a seven-goal thriller, with Macarthur edging the game 4-3.

Over 2.5 goals in Monday night’s fixture can be backed at 1.40, and we could be in for another high-scoring affair.

Even though Macarthur have won three of the last six games against Adelaide United, all three have been on home soil.

The Reds have won the other three at Coopers Stadium, so the Bulls will need to buck the trend if they are to get the three points.

They have picked up a couple of good wins away from home at Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners, and another one is not beyond them.

Valere Germain remains their biggest threat in front of goal and the striker can be backed at 7.50 to score the first goal of the game.
