A-League: Roar out to wrap up Jets double

Newcastle Jets and Brisbane Roar will both be desperate to pick up the three points when they clash at McDonald Jones Stadium on Tuesday.

They have both won just one game form their last five and need to turn that around if they are to have any chance of making the finals.

Brisbane’s win came against the Jets, so they will be out to complete a quick double.

Following a strong start to the season, Roar are closer to the top six and can be backed at 2.75 to make it.

The Jets are four points below them and need a win to close the gap. Newcastle are 5.00 to make the top six and need to get on a good run to have any chance.

These games are usually full of goals, so we could be in for an exciting night in Newcastle.

Jets in need of home comforts

The Jets have won just three games all season to leave them sitting in 10th spot on the A-League ladder.

Only one of those three wins have been on home soil and that was against rock-bottom Western United on 30th December, when they edged it 2-0.

These two teams have only just played each other with the Jets snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday 14th January.

Newcastle were leading 2-1 with eight minutes to go, but two late goals wrapped up the win for the Roar.

The last two meetings between these two sides have seen the Roar win 3-2, including one at McDonald Jones Stadium in the Australia Cup.

Another 3-2 win for Brisbane can be backed at 23.00.

Plenty of goals look to be on the cards once again as the Jets have conceded 27 so far this season, including four against Sydney FC on Friday night.

Brisbane, who lost 3-1 to Macarthur on Thursday night, have conceded 30 and over 2.5 goals in the game can be backed at 1.53.

Roar boast strong record

Brisbane Roar do have a good record against the Jets and have won five of the last six games against them.

Two of those wins have been in Newcastle, so a trip to McDonald Jones should hold no fear for them.

They have picked up big wins in Adelaide and Sydney already this season, but that was earlier in the campaign when they were bang in form and looking like title challengers.

Jay O’Shea always remains a goal threat and scored two goals the last time they met, while Jonas Markovski is in good touch, scoring in the last two games.

Markovski is 3.10 to score at anytime, while O’Shea could be a value bet at 4.00.
