Canterbury Bulldogs have the chance to extend their winning run at the start of the new NRL season to five in a row when they take on the Newcastle Knights on Sunday.

The Bulldogs have made an impressive, unbeaten start to the campaign and currently sit top of the NRL ladder.

They are the only side in the competition with a 100 per cent record and will fancy their chances of keeping that intact against the Knights.

Newcastle also started the season well, winning their opening two games, but head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a loss to Gold Coast Titans and a bye.

The Knights will be desperate to return to winning ways as they push for a spot in the top eight this season.

Bulldogs make a perfect start

Canterbury Bulldogs continued their fine start to the season with an impressive 20-6 win away at the Cronulla Sharks last week.

It was another sure sign that Cameron Ciraldo’s side will be a real force to be reckoned with in the months ahead.

Back at one of their three home venues, they will be keen to kick on against the Knights, but Accor Stadium has not been a happy venue for them in recent times.

Indeed, they have lost their last three games at the venue, but are a different team since their last game there in 2024.

However, in one of their wins at Accor Stadium last season, the Bulldogs beat the Knights 36-12 in Round 7.

The Bulldogs can be backed at 2.55 to repeat that achievement by winning the latest clash by 13+ points.

Knights look to bounce back

Newcastle started the season well with back-to-back wins over Wests Tigers and the Dolphins, before the 20-point loss to the Titans and a bye which stopped them in their tracks.

They should be refreshed and ready to bounce back and have enough quality to trouble the Bulldogs.

Bradman Best is one such player, having scored seven tries in his last five meetings with the Bulldogs.

The powerful centre will be out to hurt them once again and can be backed at 3.10 to score a try at anytime.

The Knights can be backed at 4.00 to nick a tight game by 1-12 points.
