NRL Profile: Brisbane Broncos

Brisbane Broncos are a team on a mission heading into the 2025 NRL season, after what was a campaign to forget in 2024.

After reaching the NRL grand final in 2023, before losing to the Penrith Panthers, big things were expected of the Broncos the following season.

However, not only did they fail to live up to expectations, they failed to make the top eight and missed out on finals.

Sweeping changes have been made and the Broncos are expected to come bouncing back in the new season.

Melbourne Storm and Penrith are the two teams to beat this season, but the Broncos will be out to push them all the way.

NRL Outright Odds

Maguire at the helm

Following a disastrous 2024 season, the Broncos made the decision to axe head coach Kevin Walters.

In his place they have brought in experienced coach Michael Maguire, and hopes are high that ‘Madge’ is the man to turn things around.

Maguire has tasted premiership success with South Sydney Rabbitohs and more recently guided New South Wales to State of Origin success in 2024.

Maguire is expected to shake things up at the Broncos and if he can get the best out of a talented bunch of players, they should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

Broncos snap up Hunt

The Broncos have made just the one significant addition ahead of the 2025 season, with experienced playmaker Ben Hunt joining the ranks.

The Queensland State of Origin star arrives from the Dragons, signing a deal for 2025 and 2026.

His experience will be crucial for the Broncos and with Adam Reynolds suffering injury issues, he will have a key role to play.

The Broncos are without Corey Oates and Jordan Pereira, who have both retired, but apart from that, the roster will have a very familiar look to it.

Key Broncos players

The Broncos have a squad packed with talent and if they can avoid the kind of injuries they had in 2024, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Adam Reynolds, Reece Walsh, Payne Haas and Ezra Mam were among the players to suffer long-term injuries and it hit the Broncos hard.

Keeping those players fit and on the park will be key to Brisbane’s chances.

Brisbane Broncos odds

Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers are seen as the main contenders to win the 2025 NRL grand final.

However the Broncos are seen as the main danger and are next in line in the outright market.

They can be backed at 8.00 to win the grand final.
