South Sydney Rabbitohs v Sydney Roosters: NRL Friday Preview

Latrell Mitchell will play his first game of the 2025 NRL campaign when South Sydney Rabbitohs take on arch rivals the Sydney Roosters on Friday night.

Mitchell has been on the sidelines through injury but will return to play at centre when the Roosters visit Accor Stadium.

Souths have made a great start to the season, and it is even more impressive considering they have been missing Mitchell and other key players.

The same cannot be said of the Roosters, who are struggling to cope in the absence of some big names.

They have won just one game out of four this season, and are in desperate need of a win against the Rabbitohs.

South Sydney have started the season well with three wins from four games, and will be out to keep that run going.

They have lost just the one game so far, away at Cronulla Sharks, but bounced back in style to beat Penrith Panthers 28-18 last weekend.

Wayne Bennett’s men are now the hot fancies to knock over the Roosters, and the return of Mitchell at centre will boost their chances further.

Mitchell is a big-game player, who has scored four tries in his last six games against the Roosters.

He can be backed at 2.15 to mark his return by scoring a try at anytime in the game.

Cody Walker also has a good record against the Roosters, scoring seven in his last six against the Bondi outfit, and is priced at 3.50.

Roosters in need of a boost

Sydney Roosters have a great record against Souths and they need that to continue as they look to bounce back from a poor start to the season.

They have won the last four games against the bunnies and will be desperate to make it five at Accor Stadium.

However for that to happen, they will need to stop conceding so many points. They have conceded an average of 31.5 points a game this season, which is hurting them badly.

In this fixture last season the Roosters won by eight points, and it could be tight again.

They are priced at 3.60 to win by 1-12 points.

James Tedesco has scored five tries in his last three games against Souths, and the influential skipper will be needed again.
