St George/Illawarra Dragons v Melbourne Storm: NRL Saturday Preview

Melbourne Storm will be out to make it three wins from three when they take on the St George/Illawarra Dragons on Saturday.

Craig Bellamy’s side are the hot fancies to go all the way and win the NRL grand final in 2025, and they have started the season in solid fashion.

The victory over the Penrith Panthers last weekend has got them believing, but they need to back it up against the Dragons.

The Red V have yet to register a win this season, but have been competitive in their opening two fixtures.

They also have a good record against the Storm at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, so a win on home soil this weekend cannot be ruled out.

The Dragons come into the game after a bye so should be rested and raring to go.

Wounded Dragons fired up

The Dragons were left wounded following a dramatic one-point loss against the Rabbitohs in Round 2.

However they have had a week off to rest and recover and will be determined to bounce back against the Storm.

They could not ask for a much harder game as they look to avoid a 0-3 start to the season, but they can take heart from their record against Craig Bellamy’s side.

The Dragons have won three of the past four games against the Storm and Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, and need to keep that run going.

Shane Flanagan’s side can be backed at 4.75 to win the game by 1-12 points.

Christian Tuipuloto is a man in form for the Dragons having scored six tries in his last four games for the club.

The winger can be backed at 10.00 to score the first try, or 2.05 to grab one at anytime throughout the game.

Storm missing big guns

The Storm are the hot fancies to continue their winning start to the season, but they will have to do it without some key players.

Halfback Jahrome Hughes is out with a broken hand, while Nick Meaney and Nelson Asofa-Solomona are also out.

There is some good news though as Will Warbrick returns from concussion, and the winger is priced at 1.67 to score at anytime.

Eliesa Katoa also has a good record against the Dragons, scoring five tries in the last six against them.

The second-rower is 2.50 to score at anytime.

Despite a recent poor record against the Dragons, the Storm will still fancy their chances of putting on a big score, and are 2.12 to win by 13+ points.
