State of Origin 2025: Dates, venues, odds, key players and more

State of Origin is one of biggest event on the Australian sporting calendar and in 2025 New South Wales will be out to defend their crown against Queensland.

There is arguably no bigger rivalry in Australian sport than when the best rugby league players from New South Wales and Queensland clash in the three-match series.

Queensland have dominated in recent years, but New South Wales stopped them in their tracks in 2024 when winning the series 2-1.

Hostilities are set to resume in 2025 and once again there is little to choose between the two states.

One thing is guaranteed in State of Origin, the battle will be fierce on the pitch, and the atmosphere will be hot in the stadiums.

Here is everything you need to know about State of Origin 2025.

State of Origin 2025 dates and venues

Game 1 of State of Origin will be held at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland on Wednesday 28th May.

Queensland are priced at 1.82 to win Game 1 on home soil, while New South Wales are priced at 2.00.

A neutral venue is selected for Game 2 and in 2025 Perth gets the chance to host State of Origin at Optus Stadium. That game will be played on Wednesday 18th June.

Game 3 will be held at Accor Stadium, Sydney, New South Wales on Wednesday 9th July.

State of Origin 2025 coaches

New South Wales head into the 2025 series with Laurie Daley as their head coach following the departure of Michael Maguire.

Maguire was in charge of the 2024 series, guiding the Blues to a 2-1 victory.

However, after accepting the position of head coach of NRL side Brisbane Broncos, a replacement was needed.

It will be Daley’s second stint in the role after coaching NSW from 2013 to 2017.

He won just one series out of five during that time, but with more experience under his belt, will be hoping for better this time around.

Queensland legend Billy Slater will remain in charge of the Maroons for 2025, having already enjoyed great success in the role.

Slater, who made 31 State of Origin appearances as a player for Queensland, guided the state to glory in both the 2022 and 2023 series.

After losing in 2024, Slater will be determined to return to winning ways with Queensland in the 2025 series.

State of Origin 2025 key players

The head coaches have yet to select their squads for the 2025 State of Origin series.

However, fitness permitting a number of players are a sure thing to figure during the series.

New South Wales will be skippered by James Tedesco and other star players include Nathan Cleary, Jarome Luai, Latrell Mitchell, Tom and Jake Trbojevic.

Queensland are captained by Daly Cherry-Evans and key players for the Maroons include Reece Walsh, Cameron Munster, Ben Hunt and Payne Haas.

State of Origin 2025 odds

New South Wales won the 2024 State of Origin series and can be backed at 1.70 to back-to-back and win it in 2025.

Queensland are priced at 2.15 to win the series.
