Brumbies v Hurricanes: Super Rugby Saturday preview

The Super Rugby Pacific quarter-finals continue on Saturday with the Brumbies hosting the Hurricanes in Canberra.

The Brumbies and Hurricanes finished third and fourth on the ladder respectively at the end of the regular season.

Just five points separated the two sides and it looks set to be another close battle at GIO Stadium, in the nation’s capital.

With a place in the semi-finals up for grabs the stakes could not be higher, and both sides will be leaving it all out there.

The Hurricanes have had the edge over the Brumbies in recent meetings, but finals brings a different kind of pressure, and previous results can be forgotten.

The Brumbies have home advantage, which could prove to be the difference, if the game is a tight one.

Brumbies out to reverse trend

The Brumbies have not fared too well against the Hurricanes recently, losing the last two meetings between the two sides.

However they can take heart from the fact, when it comes to finals, the Brumbies have, more often than not, come out on top.

Indeed they have three of the five meetings against the Hurricanes in final, and will be out for four from six.

Their form at GIO Stadium, has been a concern in recent games however. After making it a fortress, winning 10 on the bounce, they have since lost three out of the next seven.

Andy Muirhead has been a key player for the Brumbies, and has scored a try in each of the last two games.

He also scored in the last meeting with the Hurricanes, and is 2.20 to score at anytime on Saturday.

Hurricanes finish strong

The Hurricanes had a strong end to the regular season when winning five and drawing one of the last six games.

They will now be looking to carry that momentum into finals, starting against the Brumbies, who they have a good record against.

In the last meeting between the two sides, the Hurricanes won 35-29, and are now aiming to go back-to-back.

Cam Roigard is a man in form and is currently on a three-game try-scoring streak in Super Rugby Pacific.

He can be backed at 2.20 to score another at anytime, or 13.00 to grab the first try of the game.
