If a team wants to win the Super Rugby Pacific title they have to beat the best and that’s the challenge that awaits the Brumbies in the semi-finals on Saturday, as they prepare to face the Chiefs at FMG Stadium Waikato.

The Chiefs finished top of the table at the end of the regular season but did have a slight wobble last time out with a 20-19 home defeat at the hands of the Blues.

Larkham has stated he feels his side are peaking at the right time of the season and the results back up the Wallabies legend’s sentiments.

Winning seven of their last nine games, the Brumbies have once again established themselves as the top Australian side in Super Rugby Pacific this season.

Securing a 35-28 victory at GIO Stadium to knock out the Hurricanes last time out, the Brumbies have shown they can deliver in high-pressure games.

They will need to deliver the same level of performance and more if they are to upset the Chiefs, a side they have lost to in all of their last four meetings.

The Brumbies are 5.50 underdogs for the win, as they look to emulate their last victory over the Chiefs, which came in Hamilton back in 2022.

Chiefs backlash on the cards

Suffering that agonising one-point defeat at the hands of the Blues last time out, the Chiefs will be desperate to show that result was a one-off.

Getting into an arm wrestle with the Blues isn’t wise and the reigning champions managed to grind out the result last week in Hamilton.

The Chiefs should be confident of overcoming the Brumbies and perhaps that defeat to the Blues will focus minds for the game to come on Saturday.

At 1.14 for the win, the Chiefs are understandably the firm favourites for this one and the Brumbies will need to be at their best to secure that coveted place in the grand final.
