Waratahs v Brumbies: Super Rugby Saturday Preview

Looking to bounce back from defeat at the Reds, the Waratahs will be hoping a return to Sydney can see them overcome the Brumbies when they meet in Super Rugby Pacific on Saturday.

The Tahs suffered a 35-15 loss at the hands of the Reds in Round 5 at Suncorp Stadium, as they saw their winning start to the season come to an end.

With the Reds leading 21-8 at the break, the damage was already done in the first half and the result seemed to be a formality from then on.

A more positive start will be required from Dan McKellar’s side when they host a strong Brumbies side in an all-Aussie showdown at Allianz Stadium this weekend.

Waratahs look to bounce back

Disappointed to see their winning start to the season come to an end in Queensland, the Waratahs will be looking to bounce back at the first time of asking on Saturday.

Losing their last 13 Super Rugby Pacific games against the Brumbies, this has been a one-sided rivalry in terms of results.

However, the games themselves have been close than many might imagine, with five of the last six wins being decided by eight points or fewer.

The Waratahs have shown signs of progress this season and they are 2.87 to end their long wait to get one over on the Brumbies.

Brumbies building up pace

After a 49-34 defeat at the Chiefs in Round 3, Stephen Larkham’s Brumbies have responded well with a 21-20 win at the Blues followed by a 38-21 home victory over Fijian Drua.

Considering their record over the Waratahs in recent years, it’s little wonder the Brumbies are 1.44 favourites to head back to Canberra with another victory this weekend.

In what has tended to be a close game, the Tahs are 1.91 with a +6.5 handicap, while the Brumbies are available at 2.70 to win by a 1-12 point margin.

Meanwhile, in the anytime tryscorer market, Andy Muirhead is a player to look out for with the Brumbies as he has scored four tries across his last four Super Rugby Pacific games.

Muirhead is 2.00 to score a try on Saturday and 12.00 to bag the opening try of the game.
