Australian Racing: Satay Chicken to spice things up at Tamworth

There are five meetings set to take place on Friday including a nine-race card at Sale.

Race 7 Tamworth

Satay Chicken @ 2.70

Race 6 Sale

Rylov @ 6.00

Race 1 Rockhampton

Sizzling Samurai @ 4.40

Satay to resume with victory

The penultimate race on Tamworth’s eight race card looks to be a highly competitive Benchmark 58 handicap contest.

The top three on the card all look to hold strong claims including Convincebility who won first up last time around.

The gelding ended that spell with a fourth place finish in a 1400m Benchmark 64 handicap at Newcastle in March.

While the three-year-old broke his maiden on a soft 5 track at Port Macquarie he is unproven on heavy going but has trialled well for his return to action.

However he has a wide alley to overcome in 12 and is unproven on the forecast heavy 9 surface.

The four-year-old SATAY CHICKEN ticks plenty of boxes here having delivered a first up victory on a good 4 track in a 1400m maiden here in January.

Two placed efforts in Class 1 handicap events here followed prior to a success over 1600m when racing at the same level at Coonamble in March.

The pick has been spelled following that effort and while unproven on the forecast going he has a good alley here and should be able to track the early speed prior to delivering a first up success.

Rylov for Sale success

In the sixth at Sale Whiskey Hangover is expected to jump as favourite for a 1400m Benchmark 64 handicap.

A soft 7 track is expected which should suit the three-year-old who broke his maiden on his first start on a wet track when contesting a 1200m event at Echuca at the start of last month.

Victorious by a length on that occasion he tackled winners for the first time when runner-up in a Restricted 64 handicap over 1213m at this venue three weeks later.

The track was rated a heavy 9 on that occasion and fellow three-year-old RYLOV is preferred on this occasion.

Trained by Peter Moody the handicap won at this Benchmark 64 level when successful by a narrow margin over 1200m at Pakenham at the end of April.

While unable to win in three subsequent starts the pick has delivered two third place finishes including when beaten by just over three lengths over this trip at Ballarat Synthetic on 23rd June.

The gelding faded having raced from the front that day having previously jumped at big odds for a much stronger contest over 1400m at Flemington three weeks earlier.

Samurai to break maiden

The experienced SIZZLING SAMURAI looks capable of registering his first victory in the opening race on the Rockhampton card.

The race concerned is a 1200m maiden handicap with the pick having shown good form in placing on all four starts in his last spell.

The most recent of those came when placing a close third in a 1300m maiden handicap on a soft 5 surface at this venue at the end of March.

The son of Sizzling advertised his well-being in a two runner barrier trial over 900m at this venue on the 26th June.

The pick put eight lengths between himself and his sole rival on that occasion and that effort should have put Nick Walsh’s inmate spot on for this contest.

Ryan Wiggins takes the ride for the first time and racing on his home track Sizzling Samurai looks capable of delivering a first up victory.
