The Scorchers had a shocking end to last season when losing four games on the bounce, including the Challenger final that ended their campaign.
However, they do have a good record in the WBBL and will be keen to bounce back in style in 2024.
The Scorchers have named a strong 13-player squad for the clash and, in the absence of Sophie Devine, will be skippered by Beth Mooney.
Wicketkeeper/batter Mooney is one of the stars of the Scorchers team and has a very handy batting average of 66 in the WBBL.
Mooney can be backed at 2.50 to be team top batter, while Maddy Darke is next best in the betting at 6.00.
Amy Edgar has been declared fit to play and is 3.75 to be team top bowler, while Alana King, who has 11 wickets in the last 10 matches, is 3.50.
Annabel Sutherland has been named the new captain of the Melbourne Stars, taking over from Meg Lanning.
Sutherland will lead the Stars into battle against the Scorchers and she can be backed at 2.20 to mark the occasion by scoring 30+ runs.
The Stars have a great record against the Scorchers, winning the last three meetings between the two sides.
The last meeting was in Perth and the Stars won by an impressive 33 runs. The previous two meetings the Stars won by seven and six runs respectively.
Sophie Day also looks set to be a huge threat for the Stars having taken 23 wickets in the last 10 matches, while Sutherland has taken 16.
