Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar: A-League Saturday Preview

Adelaide United are desperately trying to find their best form as they head into Saturday’s home clash with Brisbane Roar.

The Reds have won just one game in the last five, but remarkably still find themselves in with a shout of finishing second.

They surrendered second spot to Western United last weekend, but are still in with a good shout of wrestling it back if they can string some wins together.

There is no better place to start than a home game against a Brisbane side that have won one game all season, and sit rock bottom on the ladder.

Nothing other than three points will do for Adelaide, but Brisbane could make life difficult as they fight to avoid the wooden spoon.

Reds need to tighten up

Adelaide have been shipping in too many goals in recent games, and need to plug the holes in defence if they are to enjoy a successful end to the season.

They have conceded seven in the last two games, including a 4-4 draw against Auckland FC last weekend.

It could have been worse, had Bart Vriends not scored eight minutes in to injury time to rescue a share of the points.

Zach Clough was also in fine form during that game, scoring two goals to take his tally for the season to six.

There is a good chance there will be plenty of goals in the game against Roar.

In two of the last three games, Adelaide have beaten Brisbane 3-2 and 4-3. Although the last game to be played at Coopers Stadium finished 1-1.

Clough was also on target in the 3-2 win at Suncorp Stadium back in November.

Roar show some spirit

Brisbane Roar showed some character as they fought out a 1-1 draw at home to Melbourne Victory in their last game.

It was their second 1-1 draw in the last three games having also battled to the same scoreline away at Wellington Phoenix.

Henry Hore scored both the goals in those games and is priced at 3.50 to score at anytime on Saturday.

Brisbane do not have a great record against Adelaide, but have got the job done at Coopers Stadium before.

Back in December 2023 they picked up a 2-0 win and will attempt to pull off a similar result this time.

Their best results have come away from home this season, with their only win being a 4-3 victory ay Sydney FC.
