Arsenal play host to Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium in the early hours of Monday morning and both sides will be desperate for a win to keep alive their hopes of catching Premier League leaders Liverpool.
The Reds have been setting the pace for the whole of the season to date, while the Gunners are currently their nearest rivals after going unbeaten in their last 13 league games.
The Citizens, meanwhile, may well be out of the title reckoning already after a season that is only now getting back on track after an astonishing run of one win in 13 matches in all competitions.
Mikel Arteta has certainly moulded his Gunners side into an effective unit who have become experts at scoring goals from set-pieces, especially corner kicks.
However, they do appear to be a little short of firepower up front, a situation exacerbated by the injury absences of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
That led to a recent approach for Aston Villa’s England striker Ollie Watkins, which was rebuffed by their Premier League rivals.
Further back Arteta will be able to recall central defender William Saliba after he was rested for the midweek UEFA Champions League win at Girona, while Myles Lewis-Skelly is available after having his red card against Wolves overturned on appeal.
However, goalkeeper David Raya has emerged as an injury doubt after missing the midweek trip to Spain and veteran Brazilian Neto stands by the deputise for a second successive game.
The last four meetings between these two sides have featured three draws, while this fixture last season ended in a 1-0 victory for the Gunners, with Gabriel Martinelli netting a late winner at the Emirates.
Prior to that result the Londoners had lost six successive home league games against the Citizens, with the men from Manchester scoring 14 times during that run.
A 2-2 draw between these two sides at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season showed that there is little to chose between them, but a stalemate would do neither any favours this time around.
However, goals may be at a premium, with under 2.5 goals available at 2.10.
An horrendous collapse in form in the run-up to Christmas has all but ruled out a fourth successive Premier League title for Pep Guardiola's City, but they have improved in recent weeks and would delight in downing the Gunners.
The Citizens also need to maintain their form as they battle to secure a top-four finish, with Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Bournemouth all hoping to do the same.
While Arteta has a few injuries to deal with, it is fair to say that Guardiola has had to cope with huge disruptions to his plans, which took a major hit with key midfielder Rodri ruled out for the season after suffering a knee injury in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners back in September.
City have responded by making three signings before the transfer window shuts, the most notable seeing Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush arrive from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Marmoush made a lively debut in the 3-1 win over Chelsea last weekend and his incoming should offer good support for Erling Haaland, who has scored five goals in his last five league appearances.
Haaland is 2.75 to score at anytime on Monday morning, with Marmoush priced at 4.00 in the same market, while Phil Foden is a 5.00 shot after netting six times in his last four league outings.
The Citizens may well need to take a front-foot approach as their defence is still shorn of the services of Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias, but their injury list is now shortening and they look in the sort of form to make a real game of it in north London.
