Bournemouth v Tottenham: Premier League preview

Bournemouth have shown themselves to be dangerous opponents at times this season and Ange Postecoglou will be taking nothing for granted when his Tottenham Hotspur side head to the Vitality Stadium on Friday morning.

After the high of a 4-0 win at reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, Spurs were brought back down to earth with a frustrating 1-1 draw at home to Fulham.

Frustrating has probably been the word to define Spurs’ campaign so far, brilliant one game, average the next, a lack of consistency has been hurting the Lilywhites’ chances of finishing in the top four this season.

Bournemouth have also been hit and miss at times this season but with different expectations at the club, the Cherries fans continue to enjoy the ride in the Premier League and will be delighted with the 18 points they have amassed in their first 13 games.

It’s hard to know what to expect from Friday’s encounter on England’s south coast, with both sides fancying their chances of claiming the spoils.

Spurs ready for end-to-end encounter

Games between these sides have tended to be entertaining affairs, with 16 goals scored in their last four meetings.

Tottenham did manage to do the double over the Cherries last season, winning 2-0 on their last trip to the Vitality Stadium before a 3-1 win in north London.

Spurs will be hoping to see a return of striker Dominic Solanke after he missed the last game against Fulham due to illness.

The England striker joined Spurs from Bournemouth in the last transfer window and he’s 2.75 to score against his former club on Friday.

Cherries can smell an upset

Having beaten Premier League title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City already this season, Bournemouth will be quietly confident of causing another upset against Spurs this week.

Manager Andoni Iraola has been earning great reviews for his efforts at Bournemouth, who are well on course to not only avoid the drop this season but challenge for a top-10 finish.

Striker Antoine Semenyo has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent months and the 24-year-old is 3.20 to add to his goal tally on Friday.
