Chelsea v Los Angeles FC: Club World Cup preview

Premier League giants Chelsea begin their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a meeting with MLS outfit Los Angeles FC.

The Blues have just added more silverware to the trophy cabinet by winning the UEFA Conference League and will now look to shine on the world stage.

The west London outfit are among the hot fancies to go all the way in the tournament, and should have no issues making it through Group D.

CR Flamengo, Esperance de Tunis and Los Angeles FC make up the group, with the top two progressing through to the next stage.

First up it is LAFC at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and Chelsea will be expecting nothing less than a comfortable victory.

Blues looking for strong start

Fresh from winning the UEFA Conference League, Chelsea will look to get their Club World Cup campaign off to a strong start.

They smashed Real Betis 4-1 in the final and if Chelsea hit form, LAFC could be in for similar punishment, with over 2.5 goals in the game can be backed at 1.50.

Much will depend on what kind of side Chelsea put out for the opening game, but they should be too good for their opponents no matter what.

Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson was among the goalscorers in the 4-1 win over Real Betis and he can be backed at 2.10 to score at anytime, while Cole Palmer is 1.80 to do the same.

Chelsea have won four of their last five matches and barring a massive upset will make it five from six.

LAFC to try and make things tricky

Los Angeles FC are well aware of the task that awaits them, but have vowed to battle hard against Chelsea in Atlanta.

The MLS outfit have players who have played on the biggest stage and know how to cope with the biggest occasion.

One such player is former Blues and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, who will be out to get among the goals in the opening Group D game.

The Frenchman can be backed at 5.00 to score at anytime, or 15.00 to get the first goal of the game.

Los Angeles will look to contain Chelsea best they can in the hope of taking something from the game.

If it is to be a tight game, under 2.50 goals can be backed at 2.50.
