Juventus v Manchester City: Club World Cup preview

Juventus and Manchester City have both booked their places in the knockout stages of the Club World Cup ahead of their meeting at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida in the early hours of Friday morning.

Both Juve and the Citizens have won their two games to date, with a big gulf in class existing between the European giants and the other two teams in Group G - Wydad AC and Ai Ain.

That means that the only thing on the line in Orlando is topping the group, which could potentially mean avoiding a clash with Real Madrid in the last-16.

Tudor brings stability to Juve

Juve's Croatian head coach Igor Tudor guided his side to just one defeat in their last nine games in Serie A, as they secured a place in the UEFA Champions League for next season.

The positivity from that run has continued at the Club World Cup, with the Bianconeri having beaten Al Ain 5-0 before seeing off Wydad 4-1 to top the group ahead of the meeting with Man City.

Young Turkey international forward Kenan Yildiz has been the standout performer, scoring three times across those two victories and seeing another effort turned in for an own goal against Wydad.

Following Yildiz's two-goal showing against Wydad, Tudor told reporters: "He can make the difference up front with the dynamism of a midfielder. He's a special talent."

However, Yildiz sustained a knock on his last outing and may not be risked for the showdown with the Citizens, depending on whether Tudor goes all out for the win, with Manuel Locatelli a potential starter after returning from an ankle problem to feature as a substitute against the Moroccans.

Juve have won all of their last three meetings with City, including in a UEFA Champions League league phase clash in December last year, when goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie secured a 2-0 victory in Turin.

A one-goal victory for either side in Orlando is priced at 2.50, while another 2-0 Juve win is a long shot at 23.00.

City need victory to top section

Man City are in the position of having to defeat Juve if they want to top the group and they will have to do so without Rico Lewis, who has seen his suspension for being sent off in the 2-0 win over Wydad extended to three matches.

He has already sat out the 6-0 victory over Al Ain, with Abdukodir Khusanov having been drafted in to start at right-back, while on the opposite flank recent signing Rayan Ait-Nouri impressed on his Citizens debut.

Argentinian teenager Claudio Echeverri also showed up well and scored against Al Ain, but had to be replaced at half-time and is a major injury doubt for the game at Camping World Stadium due to an ankle knock.

Ryan Cherki was also on the scoresheet against the side from the UAE, with the French star having settled in quickly following his arrival from Lyon, and he is 3.60 to find the net against Juve.

Key defensive midfielder Rodri has continued his progress following a long-term knee injury, but head coach Pep Guardiola has been keen to stress that his fellow Spaniard is far from fully match-fit and will only be used for around 30 minutes.
