Jets in need of a boost

The Jets have had a poor start to the new A-League campaign when winning just one game out of the opening five.

That came in week two, but they have since lost three games on the bounce, conceding eight goals in the process and scoring just two.

They have played two games at home this season, losing them both, so McDonald Jones Stadium is not turning out to be the fortress it should be.

Newcastle have yet to keep a clean sheet so far this campaign, and unless they tighten up at the back, it will be hard to win games.

Esepcially considering they have scored just four goals all season. Eli Adams has scored two of them, but the Jets also need to improve in attack.

Their record against Adelaide is not great either, winning just one game in the last six, and have lost the last three.

Goodwin returns to Newcastle

Archie Goodwin will be looking to make an impact on his return to Newcastle, the club he left to join Adelaide in the off-season.

Goodwin has helped his new club get the campaign off to an unbeaten start, winning three and drawing two games.

They have scored 12 goals in their opening five games, but have had one or two issues at the back when conceding nine goals.

The Reds let in two in a disappointing 2-2 draw against Perth Glory last weekend and will be keen to bounce back in style.

Zach Clough is a man in form however, finding the back on three occasions and has scored in each of the last two games.

Adelaide won this fixture 1-0 last season, but more often than not, the games between these two sides are high-scoring.
