Sydney FC will be out to consolidate their place in the top six of the A-League ladder when they travel to struggling Perth Glory on Saturday night.
Sydney have just one win in the last five games and are hanging on to a place in the top six by the skin of their teeth.
It means nothing less than a win over Glory will do, but they have only managed draws in their last two trips to the west.
Glory continue to struggle this season, picking up just two wins, to leave them second from bottom on the ladder.
They can take heart from a couple of gutsy draws in recent weeks, but will need to raise their game if they are to pick up a much-needed three points.
Perth Glory continue to struggle and have failed to pick up a victory in their last five games.
This after they picked up just their second win of the season with a shock 1-0 home win over high-flying Auckland FC.
So it does give the fans some hope heading into the clash against Sydney, if they can put out a similar kind of performance.
However they have not been able to kick on from that performance. Draws against Newcastle Jets and Central Coast Mariners have been the highlight.
But home defeats against Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers, and a 1-0 loss away at Melbourne City last weekend, have dampened the mood.
Adam Taggart continues to be the one ray of sunshine for the Glory, and while they have him, they at least have a chance of snatching a result.
The striker has three goals in the last four games, and will be another big threat to Sydney on Saturday night.
Sydney have picked up just one win in the last five games, picking up two draws and two defeats along the way.
At least they can say they are unbeaten in the last two games, and that is a platform to build on for the rest of the season.
Both games have been high-scoring, beating Adelaide 4-1 and then drawing 3-3 against Western Sydney Wanderers.
The latter would have felt more like a win after they snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat with two goals in the dying minutes of the game.
Joe Lolley remains Sydney’s, and indeed the A-League’s leading scorer, this season with nine goals to his name.
Patryk Klimala and Adrian Segecic both have seven goals each, which shows that Sydney have goals throughout their team.
They do have one of the worst defensive records in the A-League however, and need to tighten things up at the back.
