Sydney FC v Melbourne City: A-League Saturday Preview

Sydney FC have work to do if they are to make the top six and play finals this season, starting with Saturday’s visit of Melbourne City.

Ufuk Talay’s men sit three points outside of the top six, but with the games fast running out, there is no more room for error.

They are unbeaten in the last five games, but three of them have been draws, and more wins from now on in will be the order of the day.

Melbourne City are fourth on the ladder, and although their place in finals is looking more secure, there is still some work to be done.

Now the international break is out of the way, it is full steam ahead to the end of the regular season, when every game will be crucial.

Making sure their season is extended into finals will be the aim for both of these sides.

Sydney remain unbeaten

Sydney are going well as the business end of the season approaches, but more wins are required for them to make the top six.

Draws against Wellington Phoenix and Perth Glory have to be viewed as points dropped points, and could prove to be costly.

With five games remaining Sydney will need a strong finish to jump into the top six.

They play Melbourne City twice, and both fixtures are sure to have a big say in where they end up.

The two sides drew 1-1 when they met back in February, and the last two games have been low-scoring.

Under 2.5 goals on Saturday can be backed at 2.20, while over 2.5 goals is available at 1.66.

Adrian Segecic is in good form and was on target in the 1-1 draw with Wellington Phoenix.

He now has nine goals for the season and is 4.00 to score at anytime against Melbourne City.

City look to bounce back

Melbourne City saw their unbeaten run come to an end as they slipped to a shock 1-0 home defeat against Newcastle Jets before the international break.

After licking their wounds, they now get the chance to bounce back, and three points will be the order of the day.

They have beaten Sydney in three of the last six meetings, but both games in Sydney have ended in a 1-1 draw.

Another 1-1 draw on Saturday can be backed at 6.50.

Max Caputo bagged a brace in the recent 2-0 win over Macarthur, and can be backed at 7.00 to score the first goal of the game, or 3.00 to bag at anytime.
